Great stay at the Royal Lanna - good value for money, also because the wifi is for free. But the internet in the room was good for the first 3 days, after that got really bumpy and by the 6th day non-existant. For the rest the hotel is in the middle of the buzzing night bazaar, but is high and quiet enough to find rest too (especially with small kids). So we would come back to Ryal Lanna, if they fix their internet.

Lovely Chiang Mai

Mix up with rooms on late arrival, easily fixed in the morning with inexpensive upgrade. 2nd room very nice, a Deluxe, better outfitting than Standard Room. Standard rooms need update. Pool was enjoyable and a welcome comfort. Day staff very attentive. Breakfast very nice. Overall enjoyed my time at Chiang Mai.

Everything isted in the website is there. Just 1 thing, the rooms are abit old ..but no complaints for the price. Overall clean and nice. Breakfast is about the same everyday, but its still ok for me. located not far from china town, so i can do my shoppings in the morning. Not to forget, the staffs are very helpful too.

I enjoy my stay at the Royal Lanna Hotel - the hotel is centally located at Night Bazaar with restaurants and convenience store. Their staff are friendly and helpful. Another good thing is it provides buffet breakfast - easier for those who join local day tour and wake up early as the breakfast serves from 6 am - 10 am. The only thing is; the hotel is old and need to be renovated.

The Royal Lanna Hotel is a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the airport at a cost of 120 Baht (2.50 GBP). It is a 22 storey hotel situated right next to the Night Market. It is an old hotel that the management have not bothered to update and modernise. The entrance is in a side alley that has McDonalds on the corner of Loi Kroh Rd. and quite a well-known British Pub, The Red Lion, is located just past the entrance into the hotel. The check in staff and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large with very little basic furniture and was not particularly clean. Half a very small coffee table had dust on it whilst the other half had obviously been wiped clean. There were two free bottles of water in the fridge which had soft drinks beer and snack for sale in it but there was no free coffee or tea making facilities. There was also no in room safety box. The TV had several English channels including BBC and Fox news. For my liking the bed was too soft being two mattresses one on top of each other. The free room WIFI internet worked well. The bathroom was again old style but the water pressure was good. The toilet was old style with it being necessary to put down the toilet lid or reach behind it to get to the lever to flush it and it was often necessary to hold down that lever for an effective flush. The air conditioner was noisy and not particularly efficient. There is a small swimming pool on the 4th floor in which I had a nice swim but no service or towels there and the pool overlooks dirty rooftops. Some of the floors are used by long term residents who pay a small amount to rent the room and then pay additional for electricity. The breakfast was quite good with a reasonable mix of Thai and European choices. This is a budget hotel right at the heart of the bustling shopping stalls and Night Market and is suitable for those on limited budgets wanting to be at the heart of the action and not to pay out on Tuk Tuk, Taxi or hire cars.
