Location, price

a little dated and shabby, misleading hotel information on the website

Overall, it was good to stay at the hotel. It has a great location, the rooms are fine, though a little shabby, and the service is ok. However, although the website stated the wireless internet is included in the price, I was denied access to internet and was told I can have it at a daily rate of 300 bhat. This was very contrary to the offer stated on the internet. It was finally resolved after Agoda spoke to the management and the internet was provided on the last day of my stay.

Good location, good facility, pool

Front desk was run by Trainee manager and it showed the lack of experience and expertise

I previously stayed at Somadevi couple blocks down from this hotel. I was given a room with roof tile view when the town was empty on slow travel season. When I asked to change room with pool view, front desk manager trainee was very stiff and prissy about why it can't be done. When I asked for a real manager, not a trainee, General Manager showed up and remedied situation quickly and gave pool view with balcony without extra charge that trainee quoted. Daily taxi fare was $5 higher than other hotels. Had to change tour guide called by hotel as front desk did not honor my request for experienced guide.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you hire private tour guide, have him/her get taxi on daily rate. On 3rd day of tour, I got my guide to hire taxi for U$10 cheaper than hotel charges per day. This was due to hotel owned taxi (sedan)driven by hotel employed driver complaining to tour guide to cut the tour short so he can go back to hotel earlier. Tour guide was honest to translate that to me in private. I had my tour guide arrange taxi next day for U$10 cheaper than hotel charges. I ended up with excellent service and more comfortable minivan.

Good service, Clean room, next to the shopping area

I am very happy with The Royal Princess Hotel in Chiangmai, I was there on April 14-16, 2009 with boyfriend, He chosen this hotel by himself because there is next to the shopping area and very convenience, there is very clean room and have had everything we want in the room (Superior Room, Their staffs are very kind and good service. I'm sure that if next time i have to come back to Chiangmai again we will book The Royal Princess Hotel by anyway
