Hotel was very nice, clean, bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water for bathing. Staff very friendly and able to handle any problems. Pool was lovely with nice view, and very clean.

The breakfast was ok. Nothing spectacular and one might seek breakfast somewhere else if you want variety. Was same meal both days and not many western foods. For those without their own transportation a little out of the way for night bazaar, malls, or sightseeing.

The Park was very nice get away, clean, comfortable, and friendly staff. Great place to park and relax. Would recommend anytime.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you are in town on Sunday evening, arrange a ride to the walking market near Taipae Gate. Wear very comfortable shoes for it is huge and more interesting than the night bazaar.

Excellent location, heart of the night bazaar area. friendly helpful staff. excellent service.

None

we stay at the star hotel chiangmai on every trip we do there. It is in the heart of the night bazaar area, but just tucked off the main street, so privacy and quietness is assured, the staff are alway s helpful and courteous, and nothing is a problem for them, The desk staff are always willing to help out in any way they can. The included breakfast is buffet style. the wait staff are always friendly and smiling and do a tremendous job. you have full access to the amenities at the sriwongse hotel across the road, Tea and coffee facilities are available in the room and free internet access in the lobby. We love it and will continue to stay there whenever we visit chiangmai

Restaurant Tip : the german club.....YUM

Location is very close to the night bazaar

everything except the location.

We booked two nights, we checked out after the first night. Room was not clean and especially the carpet was awfully dirty. Lots of mosquitos and there is a construction next to the hotel which makes the room noisy in the mornings. Feels like it is a creepy alley hotel with multistoreys.Location is very close to the night bazaar but not in the old centrum. it is a cheap hhotel anyway, you can get a much better hotel with 20$ extra per night.Hotel prices are quite reasonable in chiang mai.

Shopping Tip : Walking distance to the night bazaar, 3 min apr.

good breakfast, cable TV has NatGeo and BBC, some movie channels, good water pressure

no safe, no electronic key card

This was an ok hotel for the money. There was no safe in the room; you have to use the safety deposit boxes behind the front desk. Also, they ask you to leave the room key at the front desk when you leave the hotel. Good breakfast. Also, they have 2 computers in the lobby with internet for guest use, but the connection is slow.

had free internet at reception

not much choice in menu at hotel

we found the cleaners to only do an average job didnt vacuum the room and the shower had hair in the drain from the last customer while we were there i dont think they cleaned the bathroom at all although we did get clean towels each day. the rooms are bright and airy. we had two rooms one had building construction noise during the day and the other had bar noises at night. both rooms the curtains did not reach across the window and light came in all night. they have a computer at reception that you can use for the internet for free, just get in the que kids play games on it as well. this hotel is just around the corner from the night markets but the lane way is not well lit at night easy to get lost as the hotel is not well signed. the breakfast menu was the same every day the staff had no idea how to cook eggs. and the menu for the restaurant wasnt much good.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you go to Chang Mai you must go to see the Tigers for $30. aussie dollars you can pat tigers for half an hour and its not far out of town really cheap and something youll never forget.

Close to night market.

Hotel is old not as clean as I thought it should be. Door screen on the sliding door would be nice to keep the mosquitoes out. With doors open we wouldn't be using aircondition.

The hotel is close to a lot of the attraction. With in walking distance. Night market was great to walk around at night for shopping. Which is close to the hotel. Now for the bad. The hotel is old so don't expect much. The staff (receptionist)wasn't friendly. Breakfast was ok. Coffee and toast that's all I had. Basically, If you just needed a room to spend the night. Then this is the place. After all this is a three star hotel so you can't expect much.

great location, 1 minute walk from the night bazaar, 15 minute walk from the main gate of the old city. Quiet location. low price. free internet (pc stations) in the lobby. simple and clean.

no bathtub in room, basic breakfast.

5 minutes into the room, we heard a baby crying in the next room. we asked for a different room, and immediately got it, same room on a different floor.

Clean but definetly in need of remodel! Guest Rating: 4

Clean-no mildew or bugs. Decent breakfast. Free internet.

the carpet was very overdo to be replaced with stains all over. I didn't even walk on it barefoot. the furniture in the room was all very outdated and had peeling paint.

Overall, I was very disappointed by the Star hotel. If I had paid about 25% of what I had paid, then maybe I wouldn't be so upset. But, I know there are much nicer hotels in the same price range. The hotel lobby is nice but the rooms are completely outdated and in need of renovation. I asked to see a different room since our carpet was in such disrepair but all of the rooms were the same. My advice is to stay somewhere else!

Restaurant Tip : I loved the rotees that can be found at a cart on the Loi Kroh Road!

Location is ideal, being near the Night Market, and a large variety of restaurants and night life.

Exorbitant cost of in room phone calls.

We found this hotel to be very well situated, the rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet, and breakfasts were quite good. On the downside, we were left with a bad impression due to being charged about AUD $25 for four brief phone calls (to local mobile numbers!) from the room phone. Never again!

Hotel Feature Tip : DO NOT USE THE IN ROOM TELEPHONES!

Location very close to night market and getting around the city yet quite.

Very utilitarian - don't expect much in terms of view (there is none).

Rooms are spacious but carpet flooring is quite overused.. very visible stains. Staff do not speak much English. Coffee/tea provided at a charge. Tried to charge us for 1 day of use which was not so. Ate the the restaurant once and the food was very very salty. Breakfast is OK. Good alternative if you have a budget and need to stay long and be close to all the 'Happenings'.

Shopping Tip : Central Airport Plaza - great place with lots of shopping and restaurant at very reasonable price. Fuji Restaurant there serves excellent Japanese food at really reasonable price. Try the massage center inside the Northern Village - very clean and great foot massages!

A great location and pleasant staff.

Minor gripes rather than cons - construction work outside of my wing began around 8am and continued throughout daylight hours. No communal area/bar to intermix with other guests.

I have read other reviews about the breakfast provided in this hotel and I thought the range was better than many other establishments provide and caters to differing "global palates". The location is 5 minutes walk from the night bazaar and a 15 minute walk away from the old city. If you do not want to walk then Tuk-Tuk and taxis are widely available. The distance from the train station is 50 minutes walk - and about 15 minutes thru the early morning traffic in a taxi. Accommodation standards are adequate to good for the price paid. Some features could do with updating such as the room carpets which look "used". But overall nothing I experienced would put me off staying here again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take a trip into the outskirts of Chiang Mai to Wat Umong - has a rustic setting rather than urban and some nice Buddha statues.

Location

Slightly old. Breakfast very basic.

This is the 2nd time I've styed here. The location is perfect if you want to visit the night market. Rooms are clean and functional with some cable tv. There was a building under contruction next door which won't really bother unless you are planning to spend all day in the room. Breakfast is not a highlight, featuring toast, eggs and mini sausages. Coffee is dire.
