The Sukantara Resort and Spa is located on a verdant hillside a short drive from Chiang Mai town. The Chida Spa provides comprehensive treatments designed for guest comfort and relaxation, and the swimming pool is set beside a flowing stream to incorporate the beauty of the resort’s surroundings. Stunning location
The location, the friendly staff and the serenity

Very peaceful and problem-free. The only complaint was that it is due for a little maintenance soon but that did not detract from a wonderful stay at one of the most stunning locations in the Thai jungle. We were very impressed even though we had seen pictures beforehand. Highly recommended.

Great surroundings but hotel is not aging well...

First of all when we arrived at the hotel there were no one to great us.
We had booked the luxury tented villa and
It may have looked like that a few years a go but it sure does not look like that anymore.
The room was dirty and the bathroom as well. The shower head could really use a good scrub....
There was a bee nest right by the pool so not very relaxing...
There was also many leaves everywhere including in the pool. So i guess the maintenance is not really doing there job.
The Spa is great but really expensive...
The food on the other hand is great. I really recommend that and the surroundings are just beautiful.
In the end I was still disappointed in our stay. My girlfriend and I wanted a luxury getaway and it wasn't really what we had...
The staff is also not quite competent, I mean, there were only 2 rooms occupied in the whole hotel, and just in case I had booked the table for diner that is right by the waterfall for a romantic diner, and surely enough when we arrived at the time of our diner reservation they had already given that table away. Useless....

Unparalleled setting. Phenomenal service.
It's right on a Mae Rim River waterfall, there are peacocks, and the food is amazing.

This was by far the highlight of Thailand for us. Our only regret is that we didn't book more days. Truly unique. Truly spectacular. On a scal of 1 to 10, we give Sukantara (or Sukantaraaaaaah once you've been to their fabulous spa, complete with rose petal dappled milk bath) an 11.
Do not pass this one up. Worth every cent!
Restaurant Tip:
Book a traditional dinner right on the water. Our one regret we didn't do thus. Also, get a sky lantern and set free. Amazing!!!
