excellent service, suites are good value for money, spacious and comfortable
old style hotel with a 60s/70s feel about it rather showing its age, standard rooms are adequate (just )
this older style hotel is well situated close to the night market, the standard rooms were below par poor dated showers and no room safe ( there are safe deposit boxes in reception )and we upgraded to suites for an extra 1000Baht per night. Suites are spacious and very comfortable with good showers and bath with room safes. Service was always prompt and excellent, good variety of food available for breakfast with 24 hour room service. Hotels Bistrot (sic) restaurant very good food and service. Reception staff very helpful, giving good tourist advice.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : good choice or tours available in hotel, boat ride, elephant safari, temple tours etc

booking in was fast and friendly. Could not fault the staff.
Breakfast is a gourmets affair. It's just very nice
indeed. I would have gained a few pounds while there.
Position of the hotel, practically in the center
of the night bazar, is fantastic.
Management upgraded us from Superior to deluxe
room. The room was huge. Fresh linen daily.
The hotel is in need of a good renovation. Carpets
are grubby looking, Bathrooms could do with an overhaul. There is a feeling of neglect.
The overall atmosphere in the hotel is good. As I
stated before, the food is excellent, the staff is friendly and helpful. Should I visit Chiang Mai
again, I would stay at the Suriwong again. Can't
understand why everybody calls the Hotel Suriwong
yet on their stationary it's called Suriwongse.

location, location, location
hotel a bit old, air con not fantastic, food unimpressive
We stayed for a week and enjoyed the experience overall. The location of this hotel is reason enough to stay - it is in the heart of the night market, right next door to Starbucks. The restaurant food is disappointing and the staff weren't very friendly but it is so much easier/cheaper/better to eat outside of the hotel anyway. Oh, and the "Welcome Drink" you're told to claim at the bar after arrival is a choice of apple, orange, or pineapple juice. The tour operators in the lobby were great - we did one to an elephant camp and one up to the Golden Triange.

big room, clean room, near night market, helpful staff, great breafast
this hotel had a good location, good clean rooms and helpful staff. the breakfast was wonderful and the hotel is clean. there are ample taxi's and tuk tuk's waiting outside for your convenience. i did not try the spa or the swimming pool however that latter appeared clean. the staff at the travel agency downstairs was honest and helpful when it came to excursions however i booked mine with an alternate company. the hotel was full of singles and families.
Shopping Tip : down the street near on the market are several artists who draw pics with carbon. beautiful and there is a UPS in the same building. i purchases 3 photos and they arrived at my home in 4 days.

Location of hotel is near shopping area, room size big enough, staff and service is ok.
Mosquitos is a trouble and no free coffee in room.
This hotel is locate in very convenient area, near night bazaar and in walking distance toward Sunday market and warorot market( must go). Restaurant is every where in this area even toward riverside- restuarant only 15min by walk. It also heve free shuttle service to Airport Plaza. Room size is big enough for this price but the king size bed is joined by 2 beds. The only problem is mosquitos but i think every place i go in Chiang Mai also have mosquitoes. Hotel does not provide free coffee so better buy yourself or just drink during breakfast. Breakfirst is the same everyday but taste is ok. So this hotel is recommended at this price unless you looking for 5 star standard.
Shopping Tip : Warorot market must go and also sunday market.

Very central and is close to almost anything a tourist may be looking forward to. Ideal for a short stay where a tourist only wants to take in everything quickly without having to use any form of transportation.
Need to improve on cleanliness and service to customers. It may be a disappointment for a strict customer who expects something more than the average traveler expects.
An acceptable 2-3 day stop over for an average traveler passing through Chiang Mai. Certainly not a place for the business traveler who expects better services. Because the hotel is not a high rise building, there is not much view for the client who expects and hopes to see more of the area surrounding the building.
Restaurant Tip : Close and within walking distance to many foreign restaurants & pubs. Easy to shop around but there's a lot of bargaining to get anything reasonably cheap.

Very close to the Sunday Night market & night markets. Close to restaurants.
Very old hotel. Needs a bit of a make-over.
Carpet in the rooms need to be changed. They look like they are dirty. The staff were excellent, they attended to our needs promptly. Very good location. Close to night markets, restaurants, shopping. Breakfast was good, but we were not very impressed with the dinner. I did not like the idea that we have to pay for the tea & coffee in the room!

Excellent location for shopping in night bazaar, right in the middle of the action; good breakfast spread especially for hotel in this price range; check out was fast; room is above-average in size
check-in was slow; bathroom could use some upgrading
This hotel is good value as it is in center of night market chiang mai; the breakfast was very good for the price with a wide variety of dishes offered; check-in was slow and chaotic for me, but check out was fast; ask for even numbered room facing courtyard, as it is probably more quiet than a room facing the busy street loy kroh; Room was fairly large and clean, but bathroom could use some upgrading; Overall, excellent value for the price

Good size rooms, clean and handy to downtown.
As usual in Asia just needs a bit of maintenance.
The Suriwongse Hotel overall is good, the room we got (with an extra bed for our four year old daughter) was a very good size and easily accommodated us all. Everything was clean and check in/out was efficient.
The Hotel is very handily located for the night bazaar (on the corner of Loi Kroh and Chang Klan roads) and an easy stroll for a lot of food outlets.
Shopping Tip : Night bazaar on a Sunday when the walking market is on at Taiphae gate - very few people at the Night Bazaar.

Very good location if you're interested in the big night market; room large; check-out was fast; breakfast very good for hotel in this price range
check-in slow, bathroom needs upgrading
This hotel is located in the middle of the night market, so its ideal if you're interested in shopping there; breakfast was fairly extensive for a hotel in this price range; room was large and comfortable; bathroom needs upgrading; check-in was slow and chaotic, but check-out was fast; a good value hotel for chiang mai compared to others in this area;
Nightlife Tip : Ask for even numbered room facing courtyard if you want more quiet

Only the spot very close to the night market..
Good breakfast!
The whole hotel needs a renovation!!
Front side too noisy in the evening/night!
I have been many times in Chiangmai! This i choose the Suriwongse Hotel! It s' very close to the Night market!!! I also have stayed in The Star Hotel just around the corner and also belonging to the same House! Much more quiet.. !! I wanted to experience the difference !! Now i will choose for the StarHotel. Even a bit cheaper!
Also a good place is The Royal Lanna!! If available ..my first choice!!! Also very close at the Night market! Nice views from the higher floors up to 19!!!!!
Shopping Tip : Just walk around over the night market...
( very touristic!) .
See the wonderful Budh. Temples in this city or outside the famous Doi Suteph/hillside!
Just explore this city! Enjoy it's culture!!

Hotelrooms are large and everything is provided.
Rooms need refurbishing; the carpet was full of stains and what looked like sigaretburns.
We stayed 6 days, the room was ok for us since we only used it to sleep in and it is close to the night market; we did sleep good in this hotel so no complaints about that. Service is decent.
Hotel Feature Tip : Coffee on the room has to be paid for, so do not use it. Coffee at MacDonalds for 25 bath is more nice.

Very convenient at the heart of Night Bazaar close to shopping attraction.
improper function of hot water in the bathroom, the dirtiness of the bed room.
Very valued for money best location if you want to shop on the night Bazaar street close to 7 eleven, Mcdonald, Subway and etc. and the hotel offer a good breakfast, if you don't mind about the room which is cramped and old fashion decoration here is one of the best place to stay. Anyway more information should be given like no connecting room on Superior type cause we went with family so we need connecting door but we booked the superior then we have to downgrade to normal room in order to earn that connecting door, or tea and coffee maker is not free which i think the hotel should have provided for the guest. But anyway it is worth recommended to the guest who is on budget.
Shopping Tip : For those who like the shopping stall offering varieties of goods the Night Bazaar is just directly on the door step of the hotel
