Very stylish rooms in lanna style, very roomy and great bath/spa. Nice pool area. Close to night baazar. Plenty of nice standard restaraunts and massage places close by. A fair distance from the old city, although would be easy to get taxi. Short taxi ride to riverside area for restaurants. Staff very professional and helpful. Nice breakfast, you order off a menu. Could improve their selection of drinks available around pool area. Only served warm been and soft drinks, no cocktails.

The hotel is beautifully decorated with attention to little details. Every day we discovered a new jam. The breakfast was a perfect way to start the day. The location was convenient and within a walking distance to the night bazar and restaurants. The staff was nice, friendly and attentive and since its a small hotel it feels very personal. We would definatley come back! Highly recommended!

I stayed in about 3 hotels over 9 days in cm, this was by far the best. Beautiful super clean rooms with huge jet baths. The grounds are stunning and great pool. Only con was on a kinda noisy road but all hotels are if you stay in cm. sweetest staff as well. Bit pricey but worth it. You get what you pay for here. 5 min walk to night bazaar but a good 15 to old city which wouldn't normally be a problem except for when its really hot!

Comfortable Thai style hotel

The Amata Lanna Hotel in Chiang Mai was a great place to stay and I would fully recommend it in all respects!
The style is of a northern Thai wooden house with a lot of beautiful dark wood and many attractive features in the rooms and around the hotel. The rooms are a good size, with a comfy bed (the mattress was not too soft) and the bathrooms are large, ours having a jacuzzi. Although the hotel is next to a road, there was very little noise in the hotel. The staff were all great, so helpful and friendly, genuinely committed to making our stay comfortable.
The hotel location is near the Ping river but not on the river, slightly away from the old town. That means it's a 30 minute walk to the sights but in the process you get a feel for the city. Although, only breakfast is provided at the hotel (excellent fresh fruits, muesli and some hot choices), the hotel is close to the restaurants by the river, such as Riverside and Good View and several others. Also right opposite the hotel is a great little cafe next to the river called Nakara Jardin Cafe.
Finally, it should be said that this is a very small hotel, but the design of the place and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff mean that this in no way a disadvantage. We would definitely stay at Amata Lanna again and would choose it in preference to just about any other hotel we saw in Chiang Mai.
Restaurant Tip:
The Nakara Jardin Cafe opposite the Amata Lanna Hotel (behind Ping Nakara Hotel), on the Ping river is a great place for coffee and some western food and desserts.
