Appreciated the general manager personally welcoming us to the hotel and saying they would do everything possible to make our stay a pleasant one.
- Restaurant Tip : Wonderful seafood restaurant, with fresh and live seafood counters at the nearby night bazaar.

I liked the personalized service. The hotel is small and they remember you. I got good advice on touring that allowed me to do what I wanted and they saved me money.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : See elephant camp and hill tribes. You can do it in one day.

Excellent hotel, a little pricey, but in terms of what the hotel offers, you get what you pay for, and the pool service is excellent.

I always visit the Chedi when I travel to Thailand and am never, ever, disappointed. The room facilities and service are beyond description. Yes, you can stay at the Four Seasons (too far out of town for me) but you will pay too much for a comparable stay. I just got back and will return in June, but will stay at least a week at Chedi, to luxuriate.
- Hotel Feature Tip : For first time visitors to Chiang Mai, do not hesitate to book tours, transfers, or anything else through the hotel. Good value and trustworthy recommendations.

After approaching management, we got the feeling that they were more concerned about not offending the designer of the hotel than they were to rectify the physical problems. The amenities are the same whether you occupy a suite or the deluxe rooms. The "personal" touch is clearly missing. Evening restaurant service was very poor as well as the bar service. They are always friendly but in clear need of leadership. The New Years dinner was the only thing that was well done albeit extremely costly.
- Shopping Tip : Night Bazaar within walking distance

After experiencing reservation (double booking) problem, it was solved smoothly. The action was followed up by customer service and also by the GM's extra touch of a card and a bottle of wine.
- Restaurant Tip : Restaurant suggestion by hotel staff (local Thai seafood restaurant) was excellent. My wife loved the restarurant so much, we went back for the following two dinners.

Maybe it was the curse of high expectations - we arrived at the Chedi after having a fantastic time at the Anantara at the Golden Triangle, and we expected our experience at the Chedi to be comparable. While the service was generally good, there were times when it really wasn't up to par. Foodwise, we didn't dine much at the hotel given the choices available outside. When we did dine in, we found the quality varying - the breakfast buffet was average, but the afternoon tea was very good.

Compared to other GHM hotels, I do not think the Chedi Chiang Mai is worth the price at all.
