Very relaxing and welcoming
Quiet location, personal service, pool
8.3
We had booked for one week at the Puka in mid-March but liked it so much we stayed another week. The Puka is a traditional rice barn converted into a very lovely two-storey, six-room building. There is also a separate two-storey building. It has rice paddies and two ponds and backs on to a canal. It is about 30 minutes by car from Chiang Mai. We enjoyed the tranquility, watching the birds in the fields as we breakfasted. The rooms were traditionally appointed, with a comfortable bed and chairs or sofa, very large bathroom. Internet access was very good from the reception area. It has a lovely swimming pool. We met the owner and his son who were extremely hospitable and friendly. We had the place to ourselves for most of the time and really had personal service from the staff who made us feel very special and welcome. We ate there often and the local food on offer was very good. The decor is beginning to look a bit tired in places and the owner is going to renew the pool decking soon.

The Puka is a charming resort, hidden away just north of San Kampaeng. We went to relax, and it was perfect for that: no noise, great pool, lovely library, incredible food and an excellent manageress, Nong.
The resort is showing it's age though, and could do with a lick of paint and an update on a few things. It's internet connection is appalling during most of the day, something which is very easy and inexpensive to fix.
Overall though, if you want a few days or weeks out of town, then this is an ideal oasis.
Restaurant Tip:
They only have a limited stock of alcohol so we were lucky we had taken our own wine and rum!

More than just a room!
So peaceful and picturesque.

we loved our stay at puke. we had the japanese style room which was beautiful and was by far more than just a room. the whole place is so peaceful and relaxing. the pool is beautiful and even better as we had it to ourselves every time. the food was beautiful and nong and her staff are just gorgeous. puka was by far the highlight of our trip to thailand!
Hotel Feature Tip:
Our Thai massage was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in the local evening cooking class organised by Nong!

Nice room and great location in local area

The resort is unique with local decoration, anyway the room is very impressive with suite size of bedroom, LCD TV, private bath room and living room. The hotel area is very natural of rice field. I love the resort style than hotel style, so this place is very nice one.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Be prepare your own fruits to enjoy while stay in as the hotel is located in out town. Then you can enjoy eating with all nature around yourself.

Peaceful and friendly
Quiet place for a nice relaxing
8.7
We stayed here for 3 nights during the low season ( after new year holidays) So, the hotel was not fully booked. There are just 6 rooms, decorated in old northern styles, beautiful with wooden furnitures.
They upgrades our room to be a bigger room as we travelled with 11 months baby, so they made special extra bed for our son, very nice.
We like the room, big, clean, well decorated. The main scenery of the resort are rice fields, so you can have the feeling of living in the country side.
Food are nice, American breakfast, also rice soup. Dinner with various Thai style, but recommend Northern dinner set, they are so yummy !!
We travel without our own vehicle, so we rent a van from them, 1,800 BH per day ( 12 hours) excluding gasoline. The driver was nice and polite. You need vehicle to travel into town, no public transport, but it is not too far from town about 15 mins to the main street like night market, flower market and some nice restaurants by the river.
The staffs there are so friendly and helpful, speak very good English.
So, if you really need real relaxing, quiet and local atmosphere, highly recommended !!
Shopping Tip:
The handicraft villages are located not so far from the resort, there are many nice shops along the street.

highly recommended
quiet location near Chiang Mai
9.7
We stayed here for one night as part of our honeymoon in thailand and before getting a flight from chiang mai to koh samui.
We had lunch at the hotel when we arrived, the food was great and would recommend eating here. The hotel is not within walking distance of any restaurants but this didn't bother us as we had rented a car and we drove to chiang mai for dinner-about 15 mins drive.
We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was huge and had a rain shower and jacuzzi- unfortunately the jacuzzi was broken when we tried it so didn't get to enjoy it but the room was lovely and had a private balcony.
A great place to relax and use as a base to visit chiang mai and surrounding area.
Restaurant Tip:
no restaurants within walking distance but on-site restaurant is great

staff friendliness was very impressive at my first step into the resort (approximately 9 pm.). the resort is perfect for quiet stay and retreat. not many facility but fine for its size - 6/8 rooms in total.
location is a little far if you seek for chiang mai nightlife.
