not quite what we expected ...

peace, quiet and beauty
6
We stayed at the Traidhos Residence after a week of hotels in the city. It was a nice change of pace - peace, quiet, open - after the density and vibrancy of downtown Chiang Mai. There were however two key issues where I felt misled in terms of what we got compared to what was promised. (1) This is not really a hotel but a guest facilities for parents visiting their children at the elite PREM international school. The expansive grounds are really meant to serve K-12 children and as such guests are not really at home to use the facilities beyond the designated pool for the guest houses. There was no hint of this detail in the advertisement on agoda.com. (2) The Jacuzzi - which features so nice in the photos of the guest pool does not work. No air, no jets, no hot water, And this connects to another detail of the property. There are parts of it that are unfinished and even unkempt. Just beyond the guest houses are a collection of at least 5-10 unfinished buildings, for example. Knowing these things beforehand might have influenced our decision to stay there and I think there should be a bit more detail and accuracy in the hotel description on agoda.com.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: This guesst house is not at all close to the city center and transportation to and from Chiang Mai will cost approximately 500 to 700 Thai Baht. The guest house, however, is located close to several elephant camps, ziplines, and the Queen's botanical gardens.

Far off but peaceful

Quiet
5.7
It's basically residence rooms in the middle of a school campus. A bit far off (at least 20 mins drive from any other place!), but it's good for anyone who wants to have a peace and quiet at the end of the day. Make sure you have your own transportation if you book here.

Relaxing getaway from the city

great setting for accomodation under the shade of big trees

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at Traidos Residence in Mae Rim, a quiet and affordable getaway after the hectic Songkran Festival in the Chaingmai City. The staff were very helpful, the pool was delightfull and uncrowded. The rooms were modern and clean and the bed very comfortable . Numerous sporting activities and an International school are all close by and its not far from Mai Sa road going furthur up the mountain with lots to see and do. I Would recommend this hotel for a family or couple and will definately stay there again on our next trip.
Travel tip: Have a car or Motorbike to get around and see the nearby sights

Peaceful & quiet with some nice Western touches

beautiful grounds, great bathroom/shower, large balcony with seating, large room
9.3
We stayed just for one night and had a wonderful retreat from the city of Chiang Mai. We weren't sure what to expect, given that the hotel is on the same property as PTIS. It was a little tricky when we first arrived to figure out which gate to go through and where to find the hotel. It seems like the whole PTIS property is slowly being renovated. Next to the nicely finished hotel buildings are some hollowed-out, yet-to-be-renovated buildings. It was a little strange to have so many abandoned buildings nearby. However, a walk around the entire property revealed a beautiful, sprawling campus in a very natural setting. We stayed at Traidhos over the New Year holiday, so no students were on campus. Only a few other hotel guests were around, so it made for a very nice, quiet retreat. We were very happy with the room, and with the nice little touches like fruit, homemade jam, and flowers in the room. The modern/Western bathroom and shower were great. And it was so peaceful to sit out on the balcony in the morning, listening to the river and birds. We were disappointed to learn that although this hotel advertises a jacuzzi, it was in fact just as ice-cold as the rest of the pool. Therefore, this hotel doesn't really have a jacuzzi!

Get away quiet complex

Secluded, sports options, lovely grounds to walk
7.3
Since we wanted to get away for a two day prayer and planning time--this was the perfect place for us. It is quite far from Chiang Mai, so only really good for those travelers wanting to go to Tiger Kingdom and Mae Rim activities. However, it would be good for families who want extra room and the options of suites at a lower costs. We did play tennis and walk around the golf club--but it must have been low season ( though usually the most crowded time of year in Chiang Mai for hotels--as sports desk people were always away. Pool was too cold to swim in. This in on a school complex, so suspect it will be noisy when school is in session
Restaurant Tip: Breakfast ok, but meals aren't that great here. Better to eat while out.

the place is far from anyway but peace and quiet. the accommodation fits ones that wishes to explore maerim area and not go to town. room is very clean and shower is top of the line. best shower in any hotel in chiengmai. good place to run and relax. more suitable for academic pursuit.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Explore Maerim, and the northern farming village and Lanna life in reality. It sits in the area of great Lanna communities.
