Oasis in the Ghetto
Quiet, new, not crowded because not too many people know about this place
8.3
when we first drove into this area we were worried, it's like the ghetto, and none of the locals knew where the place was because it was new. its tucked away in the backstreet and it's literally a diamond in the rough.
the night staff managed with their little english but during the day there was someone on that spoke pretty good english. the cabins are big, air-conditioned and clean. the pool is small considering the size of the hotel, but for the first night we were the only people staying at the hotel and the second night we hardly even saw the other two people that stayed there.
the staff will call a tuk-tuk driver that again, speaks little english but is very friendly and showed us some pretty awesome places to eat.
they have a great driver that does day tours (cheaper to organise a private driver than to do organised tour). he spoke fluent english and was overly helpful with all of our needs. highly recommend this hotel
Hotel Feature Tip:
if you want to do a tour take the option of the driver rather than the organised tour guide. he will take you to all the same places, speaks fluent english, has a modern airconditioned car and will stop whenever you ask (we stopped to eat strawberries on the side of the road and buy litchee juice - their fruit and juice is amazing!!!

Beautiful huts in a quiet location
Comfy rooms set around a beautiful garden
10
Our stay at this hotel was very relaxing. It's about a 15 minute walk from the city center so it's nice and quite. The rooms are extremely comfortable and set in traditional looking Thai huts. They surround a small garden and salt-water pool. Our stay here was so great we stayed here a second time when we returned to Chiang Rai.

Such a great hotel, we stayed here twice!
Very comfortable rooms with a separate living room
10
During our second stay at the hotel we stayed in a deluxe room. It was great because it was the size of an apartment, with a separate bedroom and sitting area. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the decor in the room was both traditional in style yet modern and liveable. All the windows had screens (a rarity in Asia), and it was great sleeping with the windows open listening to the sounds of birds without getting devoured by mosquitos.

Great place to stay
Clean, confortable cottages

The location of this hotel is a bit outside of town centre, in a local residence area. The restaurant beside the swimming pool offers only very few dishes to choose from and closes at 8pm. But for our short stay, it was all we needed.
My children wanted to eat sticky rice with mango, which was not on their menu, but they specially went to a restaurant nearby to buy it for them. Great service!

Excellent resort with nice location
Individual house in traditional thai style
9.3
We spent our Chiang rai visit here for 2 nights and it was absolutely great stay! The staffs were kind and helpful. Hotel's decoration impressed me and my girlfriend a lot! It is built in a traditional thai style with cool garden and swimming pool. The location is good as well..not far from the heart of the city and close to convenient store like 7-11 or Tesco Lotus Express. You can take a bicycle from the hotel to roam around the place nearby..free of charge! Also, at the reception, staffs can help you about car rental as well. One thing that my girlfriend and I appreciated was breakfast, the first day,the made a northern thai food and it was so awesome!! Anyway, it was only for the first day though.

Delightful, friendly little hotel
Quiet, good location, friendly atmosphere
7.3
we stayed at the baan soontree for 4 nights during the month of march -- which, unbeknownst to us, was the worst possible time of year to visit chiang rai. it is burning season and the air is thick with smoke. the baan soontree provided a very pleasant refuge; it is a resort hotel with lots of lovely foliage. the cabins are located in a u shape around a pleasant pool. we spent most of our time in or by the pool, meeting fellow travellers from around the world, exchanging experiences and travel tips. the breakfast is adequate, not great although there is always fresh fruit. our room was lovely, quiet and comfortable with a rain shower in the bathroom. the staff were friendly and helpful - facilitating bicycles and a rented motor bike. the city centre is about 20 minutes walk from the hotel, 7 or so minutes by bicycle. all in all we felt that the baan soontree was the best part of our visit to chiang rai! we were not at all impressed by the city itself and, as already stated, the air was horrible.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Best tip I can give is don't go to Chiang Rai in Feb or March --
Be sure to visit the Wat Rong Khun ... it defies description and must be seen to be believed.

it took us a while to find the hotel but once you know the way, just off highway 1 in muang district, the hotel is easy to access. breakfast is reasonable and the evening menu is limited. we ordered and paid in advance for an "extra bed" as we were a group of 3 adults and an infant. we were supplied with a sleeping foam for the floor as the additional bed. we were also charged for an "extra bed" when we asked for a baby cot. the cot charge was a bit of a surprise as this wasn't mentioned on the web page listing. that said we worked out these issues with the staff on site and we enjoyed our stay. we'll be back...

This was a lovely hotel with beautiful big rooms with porches. They were all surrounding the pool area which was also lovely. The staff was a group of young women, friendly and helpful. It was one of my favorite places of lodging in my five weeks in Thailand.
Travel tip:
Don't miss the White Temple
