Set amidst the forest of Chiang Rai, this secluded location offers visitors the chance to retreat back into nature and still experience superb hospitality. This naturally set hotel, is an hour from the city of Chiang Rai, in the north of Thailand is home to the Buddhist temple Wat Phra Kaeo and the Gate of Siam on the border to Laos, making it a popular location with those traveling south east Asia. The Suanthip resort enjoys an array of activities including soft trekking, day trips, mountain biking and cooking class for the more adventurous. Each room features a private balcony on which guest can relax and enjoy the tranquil beauty and scenic serenity while enjoying a book or sharing a glass of wine.

Peaceful location with acres of space. Good sized swimming pool. Rooms with usable balcony area to sit out and relax. Staff very helpful. Resort has snooker, massage, small library, free internet access.

Restaurant only average and not up to the standard of the resort, needs improvement. The restaurant area was something of a barn of a place and lacked any intimacy. Wireless internet connection does not work from the rooms.

The resort was impressive and the staff were very helpful. The room/balcony was adequate but lacked a touch of luxury. The gardens were well kept and a pleasure to walk around. The pool was good. Large and well designed although unfortunately for me the ambient temperatures were a little low. The manager/owner (not sure which) was charming and fitted his role perfectly. The resort was nearly empty so I got no feel for the way it managed with many guests, but the setting was romantic and the resort had the facilities to cater for many tastes.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Visit Wat Long Khun it is wonderful.

Everything was great. The rooms were tasteful and patio of each unit looks onto well manicured grounds. The staff attentive. Bicycles available for use complimentary. Perfect for a retreat.

The menu was small without variety. This is not located near Chiang Mai town 70Km away. If you do not have your own transportation you are at a loss.

I would absolutely suggest this for a retreat or other spiritual occasion. The grounds are well manicure and kept well. Nice trails for biking or walking. Staff is attentive. Rooms spacious and wonderful atmosphere.

Travel tip : Complimentary bikes for trail biking.
