Friendly & helpful staff; beautifully maintained grounds; good sized room (even with an extra bed); mosquito nets; fabulous bathroom; generous breakfast choices; good location on the river and not too far from the action;
not much to dislike. Mainly (and this applies to most accomodation) insufficient hanging space in bathroom for hanging towels, and very limited bench space for toiletries.
This was a very satisfactory accomodation for three adults. Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, right from our arrival. Once you know the location, it is quite convenient and even walking distance to "town". Hotel shuttle or tuk tuk ride very quick. Garden setting delightful. Very happy with our choice.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Hotel staff made it very easy to choose and arrange sightseeing.

Setting is beautiful; Staff is attentive, accommodating, friendly. Restaurant is excellent, yummy, inexpensive. Location is great. Cabins are sumptious - never wanted to leave. Loved this place!
Rooster crows too early, sounds like it's in your room, damned chicken!
I would go back to this place in a hot minute. It was peaceful (aside from the stoopid rooster) and the staff was gracious, responsive, from the restaurant to arranging transportation. It was a fairly easy walk to the town center and bikes were available for free. Loved it, I say.
Shopping Tip : Buy while you are there or regret it later.

Being situated right on the river was wonderful. The hotel is lovely and even though it is on the outside of town if is still very close to town. The ground are beautiful and the rooms are excellent.
I really can't think of anything negative
We stayed here for two nights and could have stayed much longer. A truly beautiful hotel situated on the river. The accomodation was very children friendly and the food was very good as well. I would not hesitate to stay here again. It was also close enough to town so it was easy to go back and forth.
Hotel Feature Tip : the spa is wonderful and the location on the river is peaceful

Great Views - Relaxing atmosphere - Welcoming Staff
A little out of the way - Some of the furnishings were antiquated - I broke my foot when the lounge poolside dropped on my foot
The atmosphere is welcoming and "laid back" - The view poolside of the mekong is exquisite - The included breakfast was more than ample with an array of offerings including local fare and western type omelets - Service was good - staff take a pretty laid back approach. I was less than pleased when they tried to charge me for their shuttle service to the hospital when I broke my foot as a result of their faulty lounge but other than that was a nice stay - nice surroundings and all in all relaxing - except for the part about the foot but think I already mentioned that....They have an onsite massage service that I did not utilize - If you need laundry done, I would recommend just walking down the street to one of the many laundry services as the Legend just takes the laundry to one of those spots and charges you twice the amount
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent a scooter and go to the Golden Triangle - Nice trip

Very beautiful position and good lay out. Lovely big rooms.
Lots of mosquitos and some rude staff. Charges for shuttle bus to the night market.
This is beautiful hotel but there are many mosquitos in all the outdoor areas. It is in a great position - quite but convenient. However there is a charge for the shuttle bus to the night market when one would think this should be free. The hotel seems to cater for large tour groups from Europe so if this is not your cup of tea it may be best to chose another hotel. All in all staying here should be a pleasant experience with a little bit of attention from the management to a couple of details.

View of the river from the pool.
Nice room.
Shuttle bus for the night bazar not free.
Wifi connection not free and expensive.
The hotel should provide some complimentary services for the guests. As already mentioned the shuttle bus for the night bazar is not free and more expensive than the tuk tuk. The wifi internet connection is not free for the guest. I wanted to send a couple of e-mails with my laptop and the only option was to buy a 60 minutes voucher for internet (100 bath) and waste most of it as I only stayed in the hotel for one night. There were no voucher of 30 minutes left. I think the hotel should allow guests with private laptop to use the wifi internet connection for free.

A well laid out hotel with well appointed guest rooms. A good view of the river yet convenient for the town.
no real weaknesses - just a bit slow with the coffee at breakfast time.
The hotel is set in grounds by the river, the pool has an infinity design so you feel as if you are virtually in the river. The staff are very friendly and the guest rooms are in excellent condition with a very authentic feel. The shower room is large with an feeling of being part of nature.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The night market is a reasonable walk and you can take a Took Took back- cheaper than the hotel trip.
The Hill Tribes Museum is worth a visit and a good place to book any trips.
A trip up the river to the elephant camp can be arranged through the hotel. The river trip alone was worthwhile.

Beautiful, natural setting along the river bank
private patio not too comfortable for lounging or having morning coffee. only 2 small backless stools, small table and small wooden swing
We chose this hotel on the referral from a friend and definitely were not disappointed. The setting was so tranquil and beautiful. They have made good use of local flowers in the gardens. The pool was wonderful and a great spot to watch the activities on the river passing by. The staff was courteous. The shower and bathtub room in our suite was very nice!

The hotel and rooms are excellent, we were really impressed
The restaurant could have been better, but this could have been because it was out of season. The view from the restaurant was great.
The legend is a great hotel, situated close to the centre and easy to find from the main road. It's in a really nice location, nice a quiet with great views of the river. The rooms are excellent, got to be seen to be believed. We highly recommend this hotel, the service, location and facilities are great.
Shopping Tip : We drive up to Mai Sai and did some shopping across the border

Comfortable room, separate dressing/robe area, good alfresco dining area by the river.
Machinery noise from the aircon heat exchangers, aircon could have been more efficient. No WiFi in room, technical problem - and very slow in reception area.
The legend is well laid out attractively sited next to the river and the staff are helpful and attentive. The buffet breakfast could have had a larger range of food more in keeping with the room price. However, overall the hotel is a very pleasant place to stay and is close enough to Chiangrai for sightseeing etc
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Boat trips to nearby villages

- Good proximity to city
- helpful staff
- nice accommodation
- Nice pool
- More vegetarian options on the breakfast menu (staff did accommodate)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Legend. The staff were great and the accommodation was clean and very comfortable. They have a great pool along the river and the landscaping is great. The location was also good - not too far from the main town. The food was good however from the hot menu they did not cater for Indian Vegetarians as a standard - most "vegetarian" options had egg in them - having said that, the cooks were willing to make something for you on request.
For those that like to get their laundry done, there is a laundry about a 100 metres walk from the hotel that provides great service and is cheap (make sure you have a phrase book handy as the couple that run the laundtry do not speak a lot of English)

Everything, beautiful, quiet and a shuttle service to the night market
Everything about the hotel was a positive from From our airport pick up, to the warm welcome we received at check in we couldn't have wanted a better place to stay after our 23+ hours flying from New York City to Chiang Rai.The hotel is comprised or two story bungalows set in flowering gardens. Our room on the second floor had an outside balcony with comfortable furniture, our room was divided into teo areas, one with a large comfortable bed, dresser, tv, etc. The other with a desk/work area and a small frig. The hotel provided drinking water in glass resealable bottles, which is much better then throw away plastic bottles. The pool has a view of the river along with more gardens. We had one of the best massages we have ever had and before dinner a hotel shuttle took us to the night market and picked us up at the agreed upon time. For a candle lit dinner outside with live music and the sounds of the river flowing by, not to mention a truly delicious Thai meal and great service. A hotel not to be missed if visiting the area.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The night market was fun, not only for shopping, but food and music and people watching as there were more locals then tourists

quiet and very romantic for couples
a bit out of the way; need to take transportation into town.
a nice hotel giving good value for the money; a bit out of the way, but very quiet and very private. I would avoid Chaing Rai in March due to the contaminated air from the farmers burning their fields. Hotel provides shuttle bus service into town for 50BHT each way and a tuck tuck is easy to catch to get back. I would stay at this hotel again.

Room-well appointed with water canals in front.
Breakfast buffet great.
We loved the feel of this hotel. Very comfortable, elegant and relaxing. The pool is beautiful and the reclining chairs also face the river which is quite scenic. Breakfast was a huge tasty buffet. The tuk tuks come and take you to town to the night bazaar. We regret having only one night there.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The boat trip up the river for elephant trek and hike was the highlight of our Thailand trip. We visited 3 villages and had an excellent lunch at one.
