We were all very positively surprised - everything worked out 100% perfect - from pick-up at the airport, check-in - rooms - food - to check-out. We (5 Danes) can all - recommend you this hotel - it's nice and quiet, even though it is in the center of the city. Very convenient if you like shopping. We are all night-hawks and the Internet cafe at the hotel closed at midnight, and outside the hotel we couldn't find any Internet cafe. If we should say something that needs improvement - it counts for almost all of Thailand. The reception etc.: quite good English skills. The restaurants: English skills could be better - but important though - they tried to understand!

  • Travel tip : You must visit the Hall of Opium - near the Golden Triangle. It is for sure the best museum I (we) have seen in Thailand.

The hotel seems popular with Japanese tour groups, but I think it will appeal to most types of travellers except those on a tight budget. It is by no means expensive by international standards, but there are cheaper places in town.

There is not much accommodation in Chiang Rai and we came across a few other people who also had problems finding somewhere to stay, which is something to bear in mind. This place was 'okay' but don't expect too much. We stayed in two rooms: one a Grand Deluxe and paid an extra US$20 for this. It was no better than the cheaper Deluxe room (in fact it was less over the top and easier on the eye). The only thing the Grand Deluxe had which was better was a second bathroom! We can't prove it, but my husband got food poisoning and the only thing he ate that day was the breakfast at the hotel.

  • Restaurant Tip : Dining at the night bazaar was excellent. Good value food with entertainment (although the music did go right through you after a while so don't go there with a hangover!). A much better dining experience than the hotel.
