The hotel was spacious and situated near the night bazzar. Room was nice and clean and provided bedroom slippers.

The sloshing of water in pipes above my room was unpleasant. It happened early in the morning (5am)on the 3 days that I stayed and awoke me from my sleep. Would have like a bigger bath tub. Had to bring my card down to the reception twice because it could not open my room door.

Overall a pleasant stay apart from the early morning noise from water pipes above my room and problems with my room key. Hotel staff were friendly and courteous. The breakfast spread was nice serving local and international fare. The hotel was walking distance to the night bazzar, restaurants and convenience stores. In the evenings, the bar provided a nice place to relax for a beer and some music.

clean rooms, good breakfast, short walk to night market

soft pillows, only 1 pillow per bed, room relatively small for a thailand hotel

nice hotel with friendly staff though not many speak good english. close to night market and main street. convenient for activities like massage, night market, convenient stores. breakfast is tasty- go for the porridge. if only the pillows can be firmer and have more pillow each room- only 2 pillows per room. good thing is they have big mirrors which makes the room looks bigger

Nightlife Tip : head for a good massage at the one opposite the hotel- its orange in color and the cleanest and most modern shop there

Excellent location and plenty of free parking.

Exposed pool area

Stayed at this hotel many times and never disappointed. Always good service throughtout. Breakfast is excellent with Asian and European choice. The restaurant is open until midnight for late travellers. The hotel is located on main road into Chiang Rai just 100 mts from the Night Bazar area with other resturants and shops nearby. I have no hestitaion recommending this hotel to fellow travellers.

Travel tip : Night bazar shopping area

Great staff inside. Well maintained. Middle of city.

Security guard in parking. Motorcycles are not allowed the same parking as cars.

What a great well maintained hotel. The staff was very experenced a delight to deal with, inside the hotel. The entire hotel is nicely kept up. You can walk to many wonderful Thai and forign resturants from this well placed establishment. The only problem I had was with a rude security boss in the parking area. It seems that when you pay for a room you don't get a parking spot, unless you have a car. I was driving a 1,000,000.00 Baht show condition mototcycle, that I only use for touring. This rude, guard tried to force me into an area with the staff motor bikes, where they are picked up and moved like toys, often scraching each other. This is not acceptable to me and the staff helped me in a temporary fix for the night. I would suggest, that this hotel should be avoided, by bikers until they change policy to give us the same treatment as they do the cars, in the parking area. We pay the same for the rooms and many of our bikes are worth more that the cars. We need the same treatment.

Restaurant Tip : When you come out of the hotel for dinner, turn right and go to the other side of the road for a few blocks of wonderful dinning establishments.

Location Service

Poor wifi and expensive internet Souless pool

I returned to the Wiang Inn for one night to be reunited with the bulk of my luggage having been to Burma for a few days since my previous visit. This time I was given a much less good room with few of the extras that were available in the room when I stayed previously. It was smaller, there were no towelling robes, only one spare power point and the kettle could only be used if you took out one of the bed side lights. If you are given this type of unmodernised room (it was on the 5th floor and overlooked the pool) the hotel is not good value for money in my view. Finally, the pool is akin to a hole dug in a sea of concrete and little or no effort has been made to turn it into an asset for guests; it is unmanned and when I pressed the bell for service nobody responded.

Hotel Feature Tip : Check whether you are being offered a modernised or unmodernised room - they are poles apart

Convenient location Pleasant room

Expensive laundry and internet Wifi did not work for me in the lobby

The walk in price for a room here is B2400 which is considerably more than the nearby hotels. However the hotel is a quiet spot in a busy part of town - the bus station and the night market are very close by to the hotel. The room had nice touches such as towelling robes and the bed was very comfortable. Additional services are expensive and poor value; the internet in the Business Centre costs B100 per hour and wifi is only available in the lobby but the hotel were unable to get it to work when I tried. Laundry prices are extortionate but the are laundry shops nearby. The pool lay in a sea of soulless concrete and did not seem to be used by anyone.

Hotel Feature Tip : The tuk tuks outside the hotel are markedly more expensive than those a few yards down the street

Location, Location, and Location

Room needs to be completely refurbished

About 20 years ago, the Wianng Inn Hotel was a great and grand hotel as can be seen by photos where it had hosted the mother queen of thailand (or some important person like that). Today, even a somewhat jaded traveler like myself would have second thoughts about staying here again because this hotel needs to be updated to today's standards for a hotel of this kind: This hotel definitely needs: In-room safes, new carpets, new paint, etc and it can become what it used to be.

Great location, lovely breakfast, nice staff, room cleaned effeciently.

bathroom old fashioned and small for a large boned farang, room was a bit noisy at nights.

Met on arrival, luggage looked after and taken up to room whilst checking in. Staff very efficient and friendly, hotel easily located and in prime location. Food in hotel very good, can reccomend the restuarant, very good value for money.

Hotel Feature Tip : modernise the bathrooms

Quotes for local trips expensive caompared to agents

We were pleasantly surprised to find such a modern comfortable hotel. Well run and very helpful. The room was well furnished, spacious, light and airy and the large bed very comfortable. Breakfast was excellant offering a good range of European style dishes. The only negative was the very high quotes for local trips. Would stay again.

Good service, nice reception, friendly people, clean rooms

Standard rooms will need renovation

Staying in the Wiang Inn Hotel last time 15 years ago I expected a bit "worn out" situation; but the hotel is very well maintained, except the Standard Rooms; they are still in an acceptable condition, but in a few month or one year some decoration has to be fixed. The food (especially the lunch buffet) is good and very reasonable priced. The location, a few minutes walk to the Night Market, is excellent. Recommendable, if the price will not be increased.

Nightlife Tip : Night Market around the corner

Location

Dated, internet only in the lobby

I chose this hotel primarily for its location. It is close to all of the massage salons, shopping, restaurants, and the night market. Since I was a solo traveler, the hotel could not accommodate any tours for me. I was able to book across the street. The breakfast was buffet, and the staff was quite kind. If I return to Chiang Rai, I will probably choose a different hotel.

Travel tip : Location is their best attribute.

Internet connection was very slow

The hotel matched expectations of being a comfortable, functional business class hotel. Quality of rooms and hotel good. Central location and overall I think it's offers good value.

The location. Poolarea. Breakfast, Staff

A bit warn. Small rooms

Super location. Night Bazaar and down town Chiang Rai is just around the corner. Car rental across the street. The room are a bit small and if you are unlycky you can get an "old" room. Lots to choose from at breakfast. Even "omelette chef".

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Doi Tung, Doi mae salong, Pu chi fah, white temple
