We have enjoyed our stay in Rest Detail. The staff are very nice, but I would hope for better English at the recepion. Whenever there was anything slightly out of the ordinary or an issue with anything the conversation was almost impossible. The hotel is very very knew so everything is in a really good condition, though making cleaners scrub the floor for two hours with a toothbrush is way over the top and smacks of pretty bad employment practices. The Horizon rooms are really nice, spacious, look good and the jacuzzi area with day bed is really good though lot more overlooked than we hoped. The food was also pretty good, nice mix of east and west. Again, some staff needed bit more training on the western food front. Neither chef, not waiter had a clue what a bruschetta is despite being on the menu. Pool area is very nice and very quiet, there was hardly anybody at the pool. Beach was pretty bad, the hotel should clean it up. I would also hope for a few more organised activities since there's no gym - the only thing on offer is yoga/tai chi at 7:30am which is pretty ridiculous on a holiday. Especially as you have to pay for this! Overall, very nice, but the hotel spoilt the last impression by arguing over missing laundry bag at checkout when they trusted us with Ipod and we just paid bar/food/room service bill of £250 not even talking about the cost of the room. It turned out this was not replaced by housekeeping after having laundry done. The check-out bill took absolutely forever to prepare despite letting reception know at what time we'll be ckecking out and asking them to pre-prepare it.
Giving out a pre-loaded Ipod for the rooms - just great
Fresh coffee with cafetieres with fresh milk in the rooms
Jacuzzi in the Horizon rooms - overlooking sea and pool
Sometimes design was more important than practicality - I suspect designer had a thing for clean lines. This resulted in no hooks for towels etc in the bathroom, taps that are so smooth they are very difficult to use with wet hands and no reading lights/ bedside tables. Staff at reception should speak better english at a four/five star hotel.

Hip and boutique hotel, good take care and friendly staff.
Hottest car park no roof to protect from the sun
many garbages on the shore then is not good idea to swim in the dirty sea. I think it is a good idea to have the staff to get rid of these garbages everyday.

I stayed at the hotel from 14-16 Aug 2008. The first thing upon checking in is they give you a bracelet. It is a souvenir as well as identification of you being a guest, which i think is rather nice touch. Although I paid for the rest horizon room I was upgraded to the pool village. The room is lovely and your patio overlooks the pool. You get to choose your bath salts. Lovely. The next day I asked to "down graded" myself to rest horizon. My room was on the 4th level and my wife and I spent most of our time at the lovely day bed and jacuzzi situated on the balcony.
My view is that pool village is very good for families with children and the rest horizon is better for couples. All in all the stay was fantastic. The people were very charming, gracious and extremely helpfull and professional. The cost is a bit expensive, but if you want to truly indulge, this is the place. Good location and close to Hua Hin town.
The excellent service by all the staff
Breakfast was adequate
