Swimming pools and gardens cleanliness and the numerous added charges. We enjoyed the hotel facilities,bar,pool and gardens but we were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the first room we were shown as the floor was sandy and the chairs were badly stained.We were then relutantly shown another room.We were also disappointed not to receive free internet in such a large hotel but it was included in an expensive package with breakfast,afternoon tea and laundry.As we walked down the steps of the hotel we were shocked,the beach was dirty and there was a forest of old umberellas and shabby tables with some very smelly horses.

beautiful hotel at the seaside. great swimming pools with activities (aqua gym, kid stuff, etc). free wifi in the cafe which has excellent coffee too. several good restaurants, incl. very enjoyable sea-side buffet. sala thai restaurant pleasant. removed from the din of the city. very large grounds. very relaxing altogether. nice location, easy access to the city without feeling we were in the city itself. breakfast good but expensive.
we were in the old wing which is a little run down for a five-star. also, no view of the sea but only of a cabin, although we requested beach-side. that said, they were willing to change us one day later to a different room (which we declined). our second stay here (first was in '99) confirmed our generally high opinion. classy establishment with atmosphere. somewhat larger now, with more outside visitors than I remember; while perhaps a little less "secluded" and elite now, still a "special" experience. a little on the expensive side for Thailand but we don't regret the indulgence.
Hotel Feature Tip : quick visits to the city are fun but sort of like slumming. unless you're a golfer, (which Sofitel will help with), you'll get more value for money from time on the hotel grounds then by wandering through Hua Hin's slightly seedy streets.

Nice high ceiling rooms, excellent grounds, good restaurants, three nice pools, true 5 star quality For as much as I paid the breakfast and other snacks such as afternoon tea should have been included. I enjoyed just hanging out at the Sofitel. The grounds were beautiful and extremely well kept, the pools were great, all three of them, and all the buildings were in excellent condition. Make sure you take afternoon tea at least one time and that you have sea food on the beach (not part of the hotel but highly recommended).
Restaurant Tip : Try the Thai sea food on the beach. Exit the hotel at the beach and turn left. The first restaurant you come to is great.

each room has not much privacy average is good, feel very natural because this hotel has a lot of trees. They also decorate hotel as ancient time of Thailand. Good breakfast (enough selection)
Restaurant Tip : there is one restuarant you wan walk too. Location is on the same street of Hilton. They look like boat restuarant.

Colonia style hotel. One the beach. Historic and great feeling of space. Staff truly excellent at all levels. As an introduction to Hua Hin, this is a wonderful hotel. A classic in Asia that has been tastefully restored. You will love it.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : the railway station is 5 ' walk away. It is amazing.

Nice staff, great food, great location, classic style We had a wonderful time at the Sofitel. The service is great, the breakfast buffet unbeatable and the location on the beach unsurpassed. The rooms are a bit pricey, but worth it to splurge. Would go back for a special time.

The setting was stunning and the grounds very extensive. the manager was very helpful and arranged for a local Thai lady to come to our room to give us a massage at 11.00pm Not enough English speaking staff and the rooms were very sparsely furnished. Breakfast was poor. We had a really good time at the Xen Hideaway and the staff were very helpful. You do not get the luxurious quality that you would get in a similarly rated hotel in Bangkok, but this is out in the sticks. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to view the famous bridge on the River Kwai as a perfect base. Overall a very enjoyable stay, but take your own provisions for breakfast, because it is very limited and the cooking is very poor. I would recommend the hotel's restaurant for dinner though, lovely Thai food at very reasonable prices.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Great base for sightseeing - drive to the River Kwai or Hell Fire Pass

All services were well handled and of high standard. We enjoyed the Oktober Fest - a great buffee with high quality food Due to the structureno elevators, which was not easy for a person with somewhat challenged with walking. We requested in advance a room with easy access - well, I do not think that the second floor-far from the reception room was what we asked for. I have not seen such a variety of tasty food in a bufee for a longest time! - Since there are multiple pools in the area, the feeling round the pool is not too crowded, which was nice, and the service by the pool staff was very good!
Restaurant Tip : Many good restaurants near-by, walking distance!

The setting - large and beautiful garden, and the character of the old buildings f & b in the rooms just average. This I'm told is the oldest hotel in Thailand, and it does have a character and identity that is missing from so many other more modern hotels, like the otherwise very creditable Hilton right next door. I had ground floor room, and with the doors open out to a secluded patio with the manicured garden beyond, it felt extremely restful. I think I'll always stay here when in Hua Hin from now on.

Absolutely everything. Just top quality where ever you looked. From the minute you walk through the main gate the Sofitel Hua Hin just oozes quality. The gardens are fantastic with sculptured hedges and lovely swimming pools. The service is unbeatable and the rooms very classy. I stay in many hotels all over the world on business and this is the best.
Nightlife Tip : Good for late night dancing underneath the Hilton close by. For restaurants use the Hua Hin Seafood restaurant at the market. Sea Bass fillet in red curry is brilliant....and great price.

After travelling in Burmas for two weeks we needed rest and relaxation. We picked a winner, we both thought we had landed in heaven. Everything was excellent, the bed was divine, sitting on our verandah was so peaceful, high tea, breakfast all excellent. The grounds were the best kept I have ever seen. All staff were wonderful. The best hotel I have ever stayed in.

the hotel was wonderful hospitalty ,very quiet, nice big garden ,more than 2to 3 swimming pool the weakness of the hotel ,there was no lift to the up floor ,to much mosquitoes the sofitel centara grand resort& villas hua hin the convenient place to spend your holiday .there was nice activity for families and children also very romantic beach for coupls and honey moon ,also you will clear your mind with wotching the wounderful view of the sun rise @the sun set dont miss the activites on the beach inthe morning fainally i cant forget the marvelous buffet

Beautiful rooms and grounds. Staff friendly and helpful. Dining and drinks are expensive for the area. Would have liked a fan in the actual bedroom. We loved this hotel from the moment we drove up. It is absolutely beautiful and such a pleasant change from "modern" hotels. The topiary garden is outstanding The room was beautiful with a comfortable decor and separate sitting area and outside seating. The pool areas are lovely with comfortable chaises and an attentive staff. Hua Hin itself is charming with many places to eat and shop. We felt totally pampered and were sorry to leave. We would love to return.

Nice location, short distance to shopping, elegant premises, friendly staff Had a very nice stay at Sofitel Resort in September. Very nice location with short distance to the center of Hua Hin. Friendly staff and nice surroundings made this a wonderful vacation. Became a member of the Sofitel Club which added some really appreciated services to our stay such as free laundry, daily refreshing small dishes. This hotel is highly recommended.
