Location was great - getting to town can get a little tricky with no taxis available except if you get one through the travel desk where the prices quoted are premium. One way to do it is the first time get a taxi from them get into town find a good cabbie and use him throughout the stay - works pretty cheap.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Find a cabbie in town and he is much cheaper than getting a tour organised through the desk.

This is an excellent base for travelling round the Kanchanaburi area. It's just a short walk to the bridge too.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : There are several tour companies in the town that offer excellent value day trips - far cheaper than those offered by the hotel.

Some of the other reviewers comment on the Felix being on the wrong side of the Bridge over the River Kwai - this is true if you do not have a car and would like to eat out every evening and do not want to pay for a taxi, but if you want peace and tranquillity at an affordable price and be within walking distance to the bridge this hotel is a great choice.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Felix is probably the best hotel near the Bridge over the River Kwai - I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel and I would be happy to stay there again. Whilst in the area, a trip to the Hellfire Pass Museum (www.hellfirepass.com/museum_hellfire_pass.html) is very highly recommended.

If you want convenience and on a budget, then this hotel is not suitable. But if you need to get away from it all and budget is not an issue, quite a good hotel to relax in.

  • Restaurant Tip : The restaurant in Apple Guesthouse cooks the best authentic Thai food at relatively cheap price. If you need travel service, go to Good Times Travel agent.

I think the location is very good, and could be a competitive advantage of this hotel. If they can renovate, or improve the rooms, and make them moe attractive, and cleaner they would be able to attract more cutomers with no doubt.

It has the best view of the Bridge on the River Kwai compared with other areas near the river. Too expensive for what is offered.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Walk along the path near the river and you will have a prefect view of the bridge.

This resort is about 20 minutes from the bus station at Kanchanaburi. We arrived on the last day of Songkran. The staff were very nice. The grounds are beautiful, and our river view room was roomy and well decorated. While this place may not be the newest resort in town, it was a bargain at the $90 we paid for the night. It's about a 5 minute walk to the Bridge on the River Kwai, where you can cross and get to some local restaurants. They have a very nice buffet breakfast w/ Asian and Western options, including an omlette station, that was included with our room. They arranged for us to have a driver for an entire day to take us to Erawan and the Tiger Temple. If you want a resort experience, this place is great. I would not hesitate to return.

  • Restaurant Tip : Crossing the Bridge on the River Kwai, there is a restaurant on the water to the left with a grass roof (not the restuarant to the right with a blue roof). The restaurant is not well marked, but the food was delicious.
