The city-center hotel offers a comfortable and convenient base for exploring Kanchanaburi’s main attractions. The three-star River Kwai Hotel is located in the heart of the city, with easy access to taxis, buses, and trains, with the train station being only one kilometer away from the hotel. Taxi or tuk-tuk rides from the River Kwai Hotel to the Bridge, the War Cemetary, and the Tiger Temple will take minutes and set you back between 40 to 100 baht, depending on your bargaining skills! The rooms at the River Kwai Hotel are basic, but equipped with all modern amenities and, most importantly, are clean and spacious. The Cowboy bar and disco in front of the hotel provides a great hangout place after a day of sightseeing. Close to attractions, River Kwai Hotel makes for an excellent base when in Kanchanaburi.

Location : in the middle of town and close to the things to see (not The River Kwai Bridge witch is at the end of town). Good breakfastbuffet. Very nice swimingpool and jaccuzi.

The rooms smell very bad and are very old. The bathroom is very small, I ( I am 2.02 m - 6ft8) couldn't stand opright without my head touching the cealing !!!!! A lot of noice comming from the disco next to the hotel. The room was not very clean. The staff speaks not much English.

I wouldn't recommed this hotel, this hotel was the only one of our trip witch was not good. The room was bad, to small, I feld like in a birdscage. Location was o.k. (in the middele of town) and not far from the railwaystation. The swimmingpool was ok.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Take the train from Kanchanaburi (3th class only but clean seats !) to Nam Tok Station and cross the infamous Death Railway of WWII. Visit the Jeath War museum in Kanchanaburi and WWII cemetery. Both are not far from the hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River Kwai Hotel. The hotel is clean and the food good, the hotel bar had a good atmosphere. The hotel was really well located in the city centre, very close by to the war memorial gardens and to the Bridge over the river kwai. A short taxi journey away and you can get to erawan falls, hellfire pass and the tiger temples. Prime location and lovely place

I totally loved Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai Hotel (the amenities were fantastic and the location was great if you are planning trips around), I wish we could have stayed longer. There was a really lovely feel to the place and the people were truly lovely. When I return, I will definitely book into the river kwai hotel again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : You are very close to 1 of the war memorials cemetary's and museum and to the Bridge over the River Kwai. A half hour taxi journey to the tiger temple, hellfire pass and erawan falls. Perfect location!

Good location - only few minutes walk to train station and bus station. Nice buffet breakfast.

A little bit noisy when a train goes nearby

We spend 2 nights here during low seasson in may 2009. There were few guests then. Hotel provides appropriate service for reasonable amount of money. Nice and quiet restorant offers thai and international dishes on good value. Meals are big enough to fed big hungry Russian man like me. I would recommend this place to ppl who need short term stay in good location.

Shopping Tip : Good fresh market nearby where you can buy cheap but tasty fruits.
