River Kwai Resotel Resort, Kanchanaburi

Beautifully located, by the riwer. You can almost feel that you are in a jungle. However, there were thousand of ants in the room. No regular bedshits but only two blankets. We were told there will be a secured parking since you have to leave the car by the riwer and take a boat to the hotel. After we arried we've learned that there is a parking but not secured. Additionally, the next day we came back after breakfast the lower parking was cover with the wather. Good we left the car on the top parking space. Otherwise, it would be half covered with the water. And again... nobody informed us something like this might happen. The food was good although not many choices alailable and the prices were pretty high since you don't get much choice (no restaurants availavble). After 6 pm, once you get back to the hotel (no later fair available) you only count on the hotel's buffet and bar. Don't even think about having a drink by the pool after 9 and even 8 pm. It's closed! We wanted to go canoeing, so they took us by the boat up the riwer and kept uc waiting almost half of an hour for the canoes. You pay for an hour and half of it spend on waiting...

We loved the transportation the the hotel by boat, but be careful if you are going on your own, the last boat is leaving at 6pm. The area is beautiful and very calm. The hotel has got a very nice garden and the rooms are very nice and clean. They have got mosquito nets so you can sleep with open windows and listen to the frogs, birds and so on. The whole area is very romantic and you can go and start a lot of tours from here. we didn´t like, that it is not possible to pay by credit card and that they don´t look too much on the watch-that means for example: Breakfast time until 10.am could also mean just 9.30 and dinner starting at 7. pm could mean starting at 6.30...

It was very difficult to find this hotel. The stuff were not helpful at all. I am not going back!! Never again!!

The long boat ride down the river to this lovely resort is a pleasure in itself. If you like the simple things but with a few luxuries eg. clean bathroom facilities, somewhere to sleep, sit & relax this is a great place. Secluded enough to be relaxing & quiet but close enough to enjoy the attractions & beautiful scenery, not unlike the jungle "resorts" in Borneo. We enjoyed our stay though it was too short to take full advantage of what this place has to offer. Bicycle riding to check out the natural surroundings, caving more adventurous than in Australia, relaxing outside the beautiful huts, watching for wildlife, visiting waterfalls, Tiger Temple, Elephant Riding, Thai massage, etc.

Hotel can work with Kanchanaburi town's tourist office, provide clear route and way to hotel. Best if pick-up or agent can be appointed to transport customers to hotel.

This is my fourth trip to the resort. This says it all I think.

We also got family Thai massage in the hotel and were all very satisfied with it.

Is a different experience. Located in the middle of nowhere. Can be very nice if you love here. For somewhere to come from the hotel and you make use of the taxi that the hotel offers you 100 bath lost. Do this on the high side. The huts were not full time pest free (of course this is not crazy if you look where it is). I had (given the pictures I've seen) slightly higher expectations of the hotel.
