Khao Lak Emerald Resort & Spa Khao Lak (Phang Nga) Info
A brand new hotel (2007) blends classical Thai design with modern touches and surrounds a natural lagoon and tropical garden. The private villas facing the pristine beach include a veranda and are the height of luxury. All the rooms are good sized with LCD television monitors and are splashed with bold strokes of color. Two pools, a spa, beach volleyball, two nearby golf courses and, for us relaxed visitors, a beach massage compliment the day. Take an eco friendly rainforest tour, go scuba diving to see gorgeous coral and ravishing fish, or take a thrilling elephant trek. The hotel is ten minutes to town allowing you to enjoy serenity in this peaceful part of paradise.

Great beach pool.Low season so coctails half price - bargain ! Rooms fine.Location good for couples only.
Menu in low season not comprehensive enough - one nights dining was enough. Umbrellas old and tired looking.Airconditioner in one of the rooms failed but was promptly fixed by friendly staff.Gardens around center kids pool inadequate. Ping pong table area not lit at night.15 mins by scooter into town . You must hire a scooter if you want to be able to get into town as tuk tuks are expensive.
Khao Lak Emerald Resort & Spa was the second destination on an 8 day trip to Phuket. We stayed at the sister hotel in Karon - Diamond Cottage which was good also. My partner and my 13 yr old and myself stayed at Emerald Resort for 4 days. It's around 15 min by scooter into town which has lots of shops to bargain in and everything you need. Outside the resort are enough restaurants to dine out in so you don't have to dine at the resort restaurants every nite. Thank goodness as one nights dining was enough due to limited menu. We were there in low season August and the menu was very small. Food was great though and coctails were half price - a bargain ! This hotel had the best poolside/restaurant located directly on the beach - absolutley beautiful.Wouldn't recommend it for families with teenagers as there isn't enough to do.Rooms were fine, gardens could have been a lot better in the middle of the resort but were great near the beach infinity pool.Service friendly.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : You must go on the tour which includes white water rafting, quad bike and elephant ride all in the one tour. It was great ! James Bond Island tour - great also but make sure you choose the one with the speedboat !

On the beach, good breakfast, nice pool, ocean view from some of the rooms.
Quiet location, nothing much to see, not many places to eat. Two pools, second one next to the beach which is nice. This hotel is perhaps good choice for families with children as the was pool for kids and thing to play with. Books and bicycles available. Scooter renting place in front of the hotel. Good breakfast, dinner buffet was ok but nothing special.
Nightlife Tip : If you are looking for some nightlife or shopping, this is not the hotel for you.
