The newly-built resort is set right on the secluded Bangsak Beach in Khao Lak, away from the main tourist areas. As the Royal Bangsak Beach Resort opened very recently, the guest rooms and other resort facilities are still extremely new and in tip-top condition. The resort’s location on a peaceful beach away from the more crowded beaches of Khao Lak makes it an ideal place for romantic getaways and honeymooners. The almost-deserted stretch of beach in front of the resort is enjoyed almost exclusively by the resort’s guests, as there are only a few other resorts around. Should you wish you visit Khao Lak town center and its array of restaurants, bars and shops, the resort provides a shuttle bus service every evening at a small charge. Good size rooms, good pool, good beach. The beach bar next door was lovely! The food is bland and the menu options not that exciting. This was worst for the compulsory Xmas and New Year dinners which were as expensive as the Meridian but without the quality. We had been to the hotel off season so knew that the rooms were great for sharing with your kids, and that the beach and pool were great. We also knew the food wasn't very exciting, but were prepared for that. We hadn't prepared for the expensive buffets for Xmas and New Year that were compulsory, and they were such poor value we won't be returning to the hotel again. Cheesy stage show would have been fun if we hadn't had to pay so much for it and the drinks were all charged on top. The quiet beach is lovely, but also means there's only 2 beach shacks within walking distance so it really makes sense to rent a car if you are the sort of person who likes to get out and explore (there is a hotel taxi service, but it's a bit restrictive). The Coco Beach Bar next door was a lovely alternative - if you like Beach bars. Great if you like quiet and don't go for Xmas and new year! Off season these venues are shut and the hotel feels very quiet and cut off indeed.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Khao Sok national park (about an hour North by car) is lovely for a change from the beach
