Great location, great beach

None

Beautiful beach location, 5 minute walk to town and all the restaurants, shops, whatever a tourist may need. Rooms were very modern, clean and spacious. Ghekos all over, some people may find offensive, I thought was unique and tropical. Landscaping was very pretty, breakfast was complete. Nice pool and internet was convenient. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Not much language problem, for English. Would definitely return

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Did 4 night/5 day liveaboard dive trip with Similan Dive Safaris, excellant.

Beautiful resort, very modern. Th beach was great.

Nothing bad

Resort was very modern and clean. Beach was good for walks and waves not too big. Pool was very relaxing and grounds were beautifully landscaped. Staff was very freindly and accomodating. Good English language. Resort was just a short walk to town/commercial area, restaurants, shops etc. Internet was easy and fast. Would definitely go back again.

1. Location (close to the main strip). 2. Beach front (with views over the ocean available from some rooms). 3. Customer service (at staff and middle management level).

1. 20 meter wide empty plot of land between the resort and the beach meaning the resort is not 'absolute' beach front. 2. Decor of beach front restaurant and deck chairs (i.e. not the same same standard as neighboring resorts making you want to lounge at other resorts during the day). 3. Confusion over Agoda advertised promotion which was to include dinner as well (and it did but the terms of the promotion were never made explicitly clear from the start and were never in writing so there was constant confusion and we had a unfortunate fight with top management on the second night which obviously impacted our stay).

1. This resort is good value for money if you're looking for something more affordable. You can't compare this resort to more expensive ones but compared to the more affordable resorts, this is one of the better ones considering it is only a short walk to the main strip and virtually beach front. 2. If you choose the promotion in which dinner is included (as was advertised on Agonda), be sure to agree on the terms in advance since these were not explicitly stated. (I.e. Includes dinner but at which restaurant? To what value is dinner? Are drinks included? If drinks are included, are alcoholic beverages included? What about service charge? How about V.A.T.? Will we receive meal vouchers upon check-in which state all the terms on the back? Etc.). 3. The beach front area for guests (which is actually adjacent to the 20m empty plot of land directly in front of the resort) is crying out to have money spent on it. It looks like the resort doesn't want to invest capital into this area which guests use for sunbathing, dining and drinking because this land doesn't actually belong to the resort - it's on another plot of land next door! As a result, the neighboring resorts look far more attractive from the beach and you end up going to them and lounging on their deck chairs during the day (which is technically not allowed since you're not their guest, making it an uncomfortable situation to be in but one that's better than lounging at the beach front deck chairs at the Suwan Palm). 4. We were fortunate enough to get a room with a sea view. Not every room has a sea view so it's worth requesting.

Travel tip : 1. Snorkeling is better and more affordable if on a snorkeling only boat/company than a dive boat/company. The Surin Islands (northwest) are better for snorkeling than the Similan Islands (southwest). When choosing your snorkeling company, also consider which pier they leave from. E.g. Medseye was (great and) close to the Similan Islands but is incredibly far from Surin so we went with a different snorkeling company for visiting Surin. 2. Reindeer Bar at Happy Lagoon Bungalows is worth visiting for a drink in the evening but there's an expat-owned Italian restaurant further up the same street which really is tasteless and terrible value for money. 3. Visit khaolakmap.com and download their map - it really is the best one around.
