Very nice but still nto 5 star

The Sands has great potential but is lacking in English speaking professional staff and management. The restaurants' menus are limited and the service is frequently slow at night. Khao Lak offers plenty of restaurants but is rather uninteresting. For first time travelers to Thailand
I would recommend beaches nearer Phuket airport or Hua Hin , which is a 2hour ride from Bangkok.

Fabulous swim-out room
Pool access room. Location to local town and restaurants.

We stayed 5 nights in a pool access room and would have liked to stay longer. Check in and check out both went smoothly, and all staff in housekeeping, maintenance and the restaurants were great. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. Our airconditioner broke down one night, but maintenance fixed it straight away. Our only issue was that we were unfortunate enough to witness some contractors in the hotel use a hammer to kill a giant lizard right in front of us. When we complained to the hotel the duty managers response was "Yes, and ...?". It was great staying in a hotel just a short walk from the wide range of eating places in Khao Lak.

First step into this resort, already impressed you by the nice hotel lobby design and friendly staff. You will never expect such a nice resort located at this quite small town. Everything is new, very clean. Large room, cozy lighting, balcony over looking the whole resort, big pool, many sun bench at the pool side and on the beach. Nice beach with great sunset view. Great breakfast, nice restaurant.
