Great family-owned bungalows right on the beach
close to the beach, beautiful infinity pool, clean and air-conditioned rooms

If you have reasonable expectations (are not expecting 5 star hotel), then the Shambhala was great for the flash deal we got. The first week of May was the end of the tourist season, so there were only two other couples at the hotel. We were in a sea view bungalow,so from the room, it was 10 feet to the pool, 10 feet to breakfast, and 10 feet to the beach. The other bungalows were crowded together. Breakfast is made to order and generous portions, and the mangoes and bananas were wonderful. They helped us arrange a snorkeling trip to the Similan at a great price, and we were a short drive away from a surfing beach. You can walk the beach or a 15 minute walk to town for any number of excellent restaurants (ave 120baht/dish). They gave us fresh towels,soap and bottled water everyday. Only suggestion would be to add a foot shower next to the pool (there's only a regular shower).

Extremely relaxing - loved it!

We absolutely loved this place. The infinity pool is right beside the beach which stretches for miles either side. It was so relaxing. You could stroll along beach and eat different places ('The Beach' a few hunder feet to left had fab coffee shakes - perfect on a hot day!).

Tropical Resort for the quiet life
Quiet, good food at hotel and nice gardens.

I arrived late at Shambhala and caught the staff off guard but they were friendly and helpful
The area is very quiet but right on the ocean, the food was good and they were amenable to requests.
They went out of there way to drop me at the bus stop ( two kilometres)
Some of the reviews mention the closeness of the neighbours, this can be the case but not necessarily a problem.

Does not hold up to it's reviews

I found this hotel based on it's reviews because our favorite hotels in this area were booked up. It's a sort of family run hotel and the staff is really good. The breakfast is cooked to order and the food is good. They have a nice pool that has great views of the ocean, and thats about it. It's not really close to anything so you'll need a taxi or motorbike to get anywhere. The beach is practiaclly nonexistant, it's a wall with a strip of sand when the tide is out. If you book far enough in advance you can get a lot better for just a few dollars more.

My six year old son and I went to this nice spot for our winter-holiday. We enjoyed the peaceful breakfasts served by friendly staff, and the beautiful beach-view.
The room we stayed in was not very comfortable, kind of old furniture which did not work well, and it did not have the charm I usually find in Thailand.
