Charoen Thani Princess Hotel, Khon Kaen

This was our second visits to this hotel. So far, we are quite satisfied with our stay. Rooms are cleaned, we used only nights. Foods - satisfied both taste and quality. Receptions are friendly and helpful.

The location and the price make this hotel attractive if you have to visit Khon Kaen. I would never go there for a holiday or to impress my girlfriend. We carried our bags from the parking to the room ourselves and back upon check out. Everything seems to be on request and not offered or anticipated - the newspaper, the ashtray, the key to the room safe, the internet password... I went down to the reception myself for all these. The chinese restaurant is overpriced. The coffee shop is fabulous and huge but the staff seemed to be asleep. There are no extra touches - maps of khon kaen, a yellow pages, a magazine... There is no shop but there is a 7-11 at the gate. The room feels old but everything worked. In todays world where you need to plug in a couple of phones and a laptop, we had to unplug a lamp to do this. The power is cut off when you leave the room so you cannot charge a device while you are out. We received one key for two people. The hotel is huge. It feels empty in the public areas. We were the only ones in the restaurant and the band played to us alone. All in all, I would stay here again for the simple lack of choices. I dare say there is one better place which is triple the price, and a lot of worse places. But then we are not in a huge metropolis... Cannot really excuse the lack of small (free) things which make a visit special - like a welcoming smile!

I found the hotel very well presented, with very friendly and helpful staff at all times. The room was very clean with good views. Resturant food is of a high standard with a good variety of dishes available. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to people staying in Khon Kaen. I no doubt will be using this hotel again in the future.
