Beautiful setting, good service
Expensive food, not near anything other than a minimart
Amari Emerald Cove is a beautiful 5-star resort. We had a very relaxing holiday, once we resigned ourselves to paying for such expensive and mediocre food. The breakfast was a rip off at 690 baht! However, there was absolutely nowhere else to eat breakfast. Most days we just ate an early lunch instead.

Great location, Great food (particularly the Just Thai restaurant), Great service (reception, poolside, restaurants, room service, facilities, activities, checkout ...), Great rooms (clean and well serviced), Good swimming, Great surrounds
We found the bed mattress a little hard - this is definitely one of the few areas that could be improved.
We originally intended to stay at White Sands Beach but fortunately for us there was no accommodation available for our required dates - and so we found ourselves experiencing the best ever check-in service at the Amari Emerald Cove Resort.
That first night we dined at the Just Thai restaurant and had one of the best thai dining experiences ever.
Next day we did decide to upgrade our room to one with an ocean view - but for the amount of time we actually spent in our room this really did not make a lot of difference.
We found taxis plentiful out front of the hotel and never had to wait for transport. We found this mode of transport to be most suitable for the occasional visit to White Sands Beach and to visit the great local restaurants and massage just 2-3km up the road towards the elephants and waterfall.
We were able to swim twice a day at the hotel and also hired kyaks from the hotel at very reasonable rates to checkout some of the islands close by.
We also hired an automatic motor bike just out front of the hotel and went exploring to the waterfall (to the north) and to the fishing village markets down south. At the fishing village we lunched at Buddha View restaurant which proved another highlight of our trip.
We also availed ourselves of the local tailors to bring home some custom made garments - so we have some great souvenirs of our time on Koh Chang.
I think the location was just the best to experience Koh Chang. Close enough to visit White Sands Beach to enjoy the noisy festivities but able to enjoy our stay in the peaceful surrounds of Amari resort and the many local attractions nearby.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Must visit the Fishing Village markets down south - they are built out over the water - and try the deep fried white snapper at the Buddha View ressurant - it may change your life.

Peaceful location. Good service - staff very attentive. Excellent room size. Happy Hour. Food was excellent.
Had to pay for an upgrade as at a time when only 40% full, we were placed in a room on the ground floor in the further corner facing a lake full of mosquitos and noisy frogs!
The Amari Emerald Cove Resort is a large, but beautifully appointed complex with its own private beach in Klong Prao. The staff are attentive and helpful and the food served is of a very high standard (if a little more expensive than restaurants outside). I would recommend that at sunset you grab yourself a lounger on the beach and watch the sun set over the sea whilst enjoying a cocktail perfectly mixed by the expert barman. Would definitely visit again, especially in October when it is not too busy.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Would recommend the two hour trek/swim with elephants at Ban Koh Chang. It was awesome.

Stunning pool, great restaurant and right on the beach
Beach a little small and not the best in the world.
Place a little rough around the edges.
Highly recommended, we went in the off season and had the place to ourselves (almost) - well maintained and the pool an absolute highlight, would go back either for a couples holiday or with friends - thai restaurant not cheap compared with local area but great food. Staff not bad but not all spoke English - room really clean and comfortable but could have been more facilities and more activities around the place. Manager very friendly and helpful about suggesting places in area. Overall excellent but imagine would be too crowded in high season.

Good Location, nice room, modern facilities
Large modern room but TV is 20"...good for viewing on the tour bus.
Central location, small man made beach. I believe 680B for breakfast per person is a rip off. Nothing special and quiet expensive compared to any hotel in Thailand. We stayed in off season so good hotel value, but other charges are not reduced accordingly i.e. spa, food, lounge etc.
Restaurant Tip : Several local restaurants in area. Major grocery food shopping about 3K from hotel.

Unbelievable service, immaculate grounds and huge pool and hot tub.
Restaurant prices rival north american pricing...hard to find in Thailand. Especially the drink menu. But some good small places just outside the resort.
Tour desk was useless and didn't have all tours available on the island. But there is one on the main street just across from the entrance to the hotel that had all the tours, great prices, and cheap internet.
Great food, beautiful resort, great service, pool was stunning, not the greatest beach, but tonnes of beach chairs. Huge buffet breakfast.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Treetop Jungle adventure was amazing...should be around 950 bht. We booked with the travel agency on the main street across from the road entrance to the hotel. He had the best prices.

Fantastic service, lovely pool and nice large rooms.
Drinks quite expensive, a bit out of the way if you don't have transport.
We stayed at the Amari for 11 nights in August and really enjoyed our stay. It was low or "green" season so we had no trouble getting a sun lounger and the resort was generally peaceful and relaxing although I can imagine it gets very busy later in the year. The pool was lovely and staff were very attentive and friendly.
Our room was large and clean with a spacious balcony overlooking the sea. The shower and bath were HUGE and the living space had a DVD player, free safe deposit box, plenty of wardrobe space and air con.
The drinks were quite expensive compared to the small bars on the island but it's only to be expected with a resort like this. The food / bar snacks weren't bad value and very tasty.
It's usually easy to get a taxi from outside the hotel but it's handy to be confident using a moped to give you a bit more freedom on the island.
We were able to get a free transfer from Trat airport because we stayed over a certain number of nights and that was a really useful time saver and made things a lot easier.
We're going back to Koh Chang in Feb and would love to stay at the Amari again but blew the budget this time round!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Get a moped, the Amari is slap bang in the middle of the West coast of the island and is well placed for a 15 minute journey to White Sands or Bang Bao.

Gorgeous pool area, and service.
The rooms are a very good size and overall the staff are very helpful.
Lack of pick up from the ferry pier (although I believe this is standard in Koh Chang).
It was very difficult to book a return taxi to the pier with the reception staff, and only when the taxi that was booked for us arrived full, were we advised we could book a private taxi.
Overall the Amari is a gorgeous resort, with very helpful friendly staff and I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to friends going to Koh Chang.
Whilst there were difficulties arranging a taxi on our last day, until that point the reception staff had been helpful with the booking of other activities. An additional benefit was the free activities offered by the hotel, such as yoga and a short cooking school.
The pool and pool bar staff and food were superb. Additionally we found the rooms to be big, and comfortable.
The beach is okay, but not amazing... lots of yummie local restaurants nearby.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The tree tops adventure park... a half day trip of climbing ropes and flying down flying fox type things... lots of fun, and good exercise!

The hotel was very clean and efficiently run. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The entertainment group in Breezes Bar were terrific.
Car parking was poor. Not much to entertain small children. Charged 200 baht/hour for using kayaks.
We enjoyed our stay at Amari Emmerald Cove, Koh Chang, very much. The hotel is in a good location, away from the hustle and bustle but not too far away. The room was great and the staff efficient and courteous. The pool and beach area were kept clean and tidy and the ambiance, especially in the evenings, was very pleasant. Only ate breakfast in the hotel, the other meals were too expensive. Enjoyed the evening entertainment in Breezes Bar although there were very few patrons in there.
Nightlife Tip : The entertainment in Breezes Bar was great and the happy hour 9pm - 11pm ( 2 for 1) made the prices acceptable.

Well the rsort is nice and rarea is clean.
The room is spacy and look good
Well the hotel say it at the beach. What beach?
a couple off rocks next to water is not realy a beach. u can walk to the beach from hotel but not infront.
Well the place was nice the rooms were nice but if you want to be on the beach u have to walk sideways to the beach and eaven that beach is not the nicer 1 in koh chang.
But the place is ok i have lived att better places for cheaper money in thailand but what can u expect from a chain.
Btw Land of smiles its realy not exist anymore.

we arrived at the hotel with our own car using the ferry. the weather was nice athough these days arent the best season. the facilitites of the hotel are great specially the pools and the beach. the service at front desk was goodand we got a room facing the pool and the beach.the room was big and neat. the restaurants in the hotal are nice and not so expensive. in the evening we travelled out in the island sites visiting the floting village and other coffee houses and restaurants. the last day was raining so we stayed in door - with our friends.

Lovely pool, great pool bar, great rooms.
This is a great hotel, the facilities are good and the staff are all very friendly. Its a great place to relax, with a gorgeous sunset each evening. If you want to be in the middle of all the nightlife, then this is not the resort for you. However, the taxis drive past regularly and cost about 50 bht to other parts of the island.

Same as before. Oh, and they leave chocolates on your pillows...
I liked it so much at the Amari I decided to stay there for the rest of my Koh Chang vacation. This time I made sure to have breakfast included. For recreational fun, I recommend Treetop Adventures. And, check out the rest of the island by renting a motorbike. There are many shops/restaurants along the coast.
Shopping Tip : There is a Mini Mart across the street from the entrance of the hotel.

The rooms! The location! The view!
The rooms in this hotel are amazing! It's situated right on the beach and an agent located on the premises can help you choose from many different adventures/cruises to try during your stay. I recommend snorkeling as the water is crystal clear. The view at sunset is phenomenal! And they spray for mosquitoes so you can enjoy your evenings outside.
Hotel Feature Tip : Be sure to take the 'breakfast included' offer/package.
