Quiet boutique hideaway

We stayed for 4 nights in March 2012 and had a wonderfully relaxing visit. We spent one night in a deluxe jacuzzi room and it was very comfortable; the tub was excellent. Then we upgraded to the pool villa which is very private. The wooden buildings on raised wooden walkways means no dirt and few insects etc so everything was clean, comfortable, and a bit rustic decor. The manager was a European gentleman who makes each guest feel like a personal friend. All staff were exceptionally kind and service was perfect. In addition the pool and pool bar are great, and even the breakfast was good.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The beach is not very good in front of the hotel because it is shallow and rocky but you can walk 200 meters to better sandy beaches. Rent a motorbike and explore the island for other good beaches, there are many.

The resort is very beautiful and romantic, recommended for a honeymoon couple. It's also located a very convenient location for dining or hanging out at night.
However, Kaibae beach is not as beautiful as White Sand beach.

Luxury bungalow accommodation

we stayed for 5 nights at lovely bungalow, which was beach-front and next to pool.
private beach and pool area are very nice, so is service as well.
we highly recommend this hotel to couples, maybe it's not the best place for families with children, but to couples - both young and older - near perfect. we met 2 couples (around fifties, we are around thirties), other from norway and other from sweden, they loved it too.
one thing to add: the pool. we went almost every night to midnight swim, and we didn't know was it forbidden or not but nobody never said it was.
if you go, ask for bungalows 210, 211 or 212 since they are very well located.
hotel location is a bit far from the bars at white sand beach, but that is exactly what we wanted.
Restaurant Tip:
if you want to have really good steaks, choose buffalo bill's steak house at white sand beach (12 km from gajapuri hotel, which is at kai bae beach).

Well appointed accommodation in peaceful setting

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was peaceful and quiet and although the cabins are quite close together they are made secluded by well positioned trees & plants. There are plenty of loungers around the pool and in the garden area and we never failed to find vacant ones at any time of day. The breakfast selection was varied and ample with plenty of choice. The meals that we ate in the pool area were some of the best in the resort and the service was always polite.
Hotel Feature Tip:
One slight problem is the hotel beach is short and the sea a little stony at the point of entry. walk 50 yds to the left to enter the sea there are far less stones to contend with.

Beautiful place, nice beach

gajapuri is a very nice place to stay, very relaxing and beautiful. at first i wasn't zo happy because i thought it was only bungalows. i was given a very nice room, but not a bungalow on the beach as i expected. apperently you have to ask for a bungalow in the special request box?! so if you like a bungalow, ask for it in advance or you might end up in a normal room way to expensive.

Staff was really helpful especially when waiting for bus pick up to bangkok, a staff member named Nim was absolutely lovely and helpful as she called the bus agency many times to ask where and when the bus would arrive to pick us up as there was an hour delay. Wonderful Place to Stay in Koh Chang

my husband and i had a wonderful stay at the gaja puri. through agoda we booked a deluxe room and requested one with a jacuzzi and when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised that we were granted our request. the resort is so much better than the run of the mill hotels. every room is a separate bungalow with a private deck. our room was very large, had a comfortable daybed, a two person jacuzzi tub with separate shower and a king sized bed. the bed was really comfortable. the room was done very well, with attention to detail. the lighting above the daybed and bed had dimmer switches and the large ceiling fan also had a multiple speed and light options. the air conditioner worked really well and the shower had multiple water massage jets. the room had wood paneling and bamboo floors. the grounds are beautiful and the pool was just the right temperature and very attractive. the hotel has kayaks that guests can use and we took one out at sunset and saw the most beautiful sunset. there are hammocks, ample lounge chairs/beds, and even a two person swing. there are rocks in the water but it didn't bother us at all. the staff is attentive, warm and polite. also the breakfast was great. the location was perfect, near many restaurants, stores and great low cost massages, without the rowdy bar scene. the gaja puri made our trip fabulous and we can't wait to return. there are other places less expensive but this was well worth the extra bucks.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Get a deluxe room and request a jacuzzi tub. Eat the fresh seafood at the local restaurants!
