Wonderful Place to Stay in Koh Chang
Great location, luxury accommodations, wonderful staff
10
my husband and i had a wonderful stay at the gaja puri. through agoda we booked a deluxe room and requested one with a jacuzzi and when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised that we were granted our request. the resort is so much better than the run of the mill hotels. every room is a separate bungalow with a private deck. our room was very large, had a comfortable daybed, a two person jacuzzi tub with separate shower and a king sized bed. the bed was really comfortable. the room was done very well, with attention to detail. the lighting above the daybed and bed had dimmer switches and the large ceiling fan also had a multiple speed and light options. the air conditioner worked really well and the shower had multiple water massage jets. the room had wood paneling and bamboo floors. the grounds are beautiful and the pool was just the right temperature and very attractive. the hotel has kayaks that guests can use and we took one out at sunset and saw the most beautiful sunset. there are hammocks, ample lounge chairs/beds, and even a two person swing. there are rocks in the water but it didn't bother us at all. the staff is attentive, warm and polite. also the breakfast was great. the location was perfect, near many restaurants, stores and great low cost massages, without the rowdy bar scene. the gaja puri made our trip fabulous and we can't wait to return. there are other places less expensive but this was well worth the extra bucks.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Get a deluxe room and request a jacuzzi tub. Eat the fresh seafood at the local restaurants!

Gardens and lawns by the ocean

lovely hotel resort, great room / bungalows, nice people with good service, breakfast was ok, not bad, just not a big variety and you had to wait for your eggs? e.g finish your breakfast then you got your fried eggs!! good restaurant food (quality) nice to have dinner on the beach, nice touch.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Try to stay further away from the main road as the music can get quite load until 2am.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Dive with BB Divers - great company.

Tranquil hotel on a busy resort island
Isolated, hidden away rooms, great food, friendly staff

We were arriving in Koh Chang with nowhere to stay and booked this based on some other excellent reviews and for the most part we were not disappointed.
A lot of the other resort on the island seemed to be more hotel style, but Gaja Puri just seemed that little bit different. Individual beach huts nestled away in beautiful forest, very tranquil and plenty of peace and quiet despite being in a great location for bars, restaurants and shopping.
The food at the pool side restaurant was also among the best I have ever had in Thailand. Would highly recommend the spicy shrimp and crispy squid salad. This is a great dish, and we ordered it every time we ate at the hotel. Unfortunately the complimentary breakfast was not quite as good. Same, limited selection every day and after a week we found ourselves eating brekky outside the hotel.
Private beach area is small and a little rocky but plenty of other options nearby. Still a very nice place to lie and watch the sun set with a couple of cold Singha’s served by very friendly, attentive staff.

The hotel located on the convenience location with a short walk from store and restaurants and also on the beachfront.
The highlight gotta be its well designed bungalow made out all woodwork giving you a warm feeling immediately when you check in.
The downside is that the beach is a bit rocky.

Stunning hotel in a quiet location
Great staff, comfortable and well kept rooms

the gajapuri was everything i could have asked for and more. i was upgraded to a beachfront cabin which was spacious, spotless and very well equipped. i had a big flat screen tv, an ipod dock and a dvd player (the hotel had a great dvd library to choose from).
the bathroom had a nice and very clean tub as well as a huge walk in shower. the towels were bit, very white and very absorbent. hot water was a bit erratic but that was because of the small size of the tank.
my only complaint was that the wifi signal wasn't strong enough to reach my room so i had to work in the bar or on a deck chair.
i spent most of my time at the gajapuri sitting on my front porch or on a lounge chair a feet from the front porch.
breakfast was good and even featured good german bread - the owner is german. a good experience all around.
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you want to walk on the beach do it in the morning. When the tide comes in as the day goes on - the beach is pretty much underwater.

Very nice hotel. Location is ok, but the beach is not so nice.
The swimming pool is perfect, the rooms are very large and very comfortable, the staff is very nice and patient. Breakfast is perfect, lot of charm.
