Setting, Room (bungalow) Service and meals.

Location. Bathroom, water only lukewarm at best, cold tap only on sink, no vanity.

The Ramayama Resort Koh Chang is set in lush grounds that are expertly maintained and tended to by the hotel's dedicated grounds staff. Rooms, in the form of semi detached bungalows are spread out and, consequently, noise disturbance from other guests is minimal. Want unfortunately counts against the Ramayama is its location. Not only is it away from the beach, it is also quite isolated from any town or village. Having said that, facilities at the resort itself were excellent. It was surprising that a resort that purports to be of such a high standard (and generally it was) is let down by the lack of hot water in the bathroom.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Use the transport and tours provided by the hotel as much as possible. Prices are comparable to what are on offer outside.

Design, Room size, swimming pool.

Food, location, spa.

Very Cozy design with large room which are simple but yet functional. Furniture and decors were decent. The hotel has an awesome swimming pool. However, food was lacking in both variety and taste, location is quite secluded quite far from everything (about 30 minutes drive). No good food around the area. Furthermore, spa was quite overpriced for the level of service they provided.

The rooms where excellent. The view was very tropical. The pools was perfect, but could be a little deeper. Overall very nice.

Being on the island it is a little more expensive for everything then on the main-land but thats to be expected. The beach for this hotel is 2km away, but they do offer a free bus to get there and they give you towels too. Never did goto this beach so i cant comment on it. The staff there recommended going to Lonely beach instead. It was alot closer and that beach was very nice.

This had to be the best place I stayed at during my entire trip. The setting was very nice. They have a tropical forest like setting with plants and trees everywhere. There are paths that go through it all and the property. The pool there was very nice too, just needed to be deeper. The water goes right to the edge. The sauna and jacuzzi where amazing. I would have liked to stay there longer. I staff where very helpful and the breakfast was pretty good. The baht buses cost a fortune and the price depends on where you wanna go. My recommendation is to rent a bike (200baht/per day). The first and only baht bus trip to go rent the bikes cost me 250 baht for one trip. The bikes make it alot easier to travel. Getting around is super easy, 1 road that goes in each direction so you cant get lost.

All staffs are very friendly. The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is fantastic.

The hotel is not on the beach.

Because of the trouble on Bangkok Airport the Hotel was not complete with the result of quite days. After X-mas there were more people but it is always a beatiful place to stay. Only we missed sometimes the beach. The private beach ist about 3 kilometres about the hotel and their is a bus shuttle to bring the people to the beach. Or like us we rent a bike and when ever we want to go we could go. Each people, who like thai food, must be happy in this hotel.

Very big if you need multiple rooms, Dewa is the sister hotel with the beach, it has a gym, spa and sauna, nice pool

no beach-you have to take a shuttle to sister hotel to get to the beach. There is nothing in walking distance to the hotel. We received twin beds pushed together to make a queen. It is rated 4 stars but the service was not 4 star.

It took a long time from Bangkok to get to Ko Chang. The island has developed a lot over the last few years. If you want the party scene you have to rent a motorbike because Ramayana is quite far from shops, restaurants and bars on white sand beach. We had some small problems with our room and had to get a manager to resolve them because the staff wasn't helpful.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent a motorbike to see other parts of the island and go to the Dewa hotel to get to the beach.

Friendly staff Great pool Good rates

Not directly on beach

I booked a suite and was a little disappointed with the size of the room, however all the other ammenities were fine. The grounds are delightful and the pool is great. The restuarant offers great value for money. The only draw back is the location and the distance from the beach although the free shuttle is handy. I'd definitely consider staying there again.

Nightlife Tip : Restuarants on the beach at White Beach are great.

Extremely friendly staff

Low water pressure, lukewarm showers

The staff at this hotel are the friendliest I've encountered in all the many times I've been to Thailand. Their English level may not be the highest but they make every attempt to overcome the language barrier and help their guests. The rooms are very clean and comfortable without being luxurious, although water pressure in the shower was very low. The hotel's grounds are very green and well-maintained, making for a pleasant view at breakfast The hotel is not on the beach but hourly free songtaew trips of ten minutes or so take you to a scenic private beach shared with the Dewa Hotel.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : One of the island's pictusesque waterfalls is a fifteen-minute walk from the hotel. Worth the trip!

clean, great service, excellent cocktails, pool-side massages!

Not really a 'con', the resort isn't on the beach. But there is an hourly free shuttle car which takes guests to the beach. Plus the pool is so nice you wont need the beach!

As we drove through white sand beach area, we looked at all of the grotty, old looking resorts. Ramayana is a little out of the way of white sand beach (the main shopping/tourist area), but only 200 baht for 4 of us one way. The resort is clean, beautiful, and has excellent restaurants and friendly people. A must stay in koh chang! Also look at the Dewa which is Ramayanas sister resort on the beachfront.

Travel tip : If getting to koh chang from Bangkok, take a bus and not a private car, which are overpriced.

Beautiful design throughout the resort.

Breakfast was good but not excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay here at this beautiful resort. Probably the most well designed resort in Koh Chang. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a deluxe room with a perfect garden view. This resort combines the feel of luxury with the feel of being in a tropical forest. Highly recommended!

Restaurant Tip : Visit the Treehouse lodge at lonely beach. Very nice atmosphere, food and prices.

Nicest and very helpful staff, nothing was a problem for them, beautiful rooms, amazing and very clean swimming pool, good location.

Zero difference between the Suite and Hanuman room (except DVD and fourposter bed, which we didn't feel was worth 30 percent extra), very limited DVD selection, overpriced drinks and not very big breakfast selection.

Initially we only booked 2 nights in Ramayana but after experiencing the fantastic hospitality we extended our stay to 4 nights. Staff was really friendly, they absolutely gone the extra mile for us. Rooms are beautiful but there was very little difference between Hanuman room (standard) and Deluxe suite so I would not recommend paying extra for it. I can't find anything that we didn't like about this place, although its not on the beach the lovely swimming pool makes up for it and there is a shuttle every hour to the beach by The Dewa which is the nicest on the island by far and you can use all the facilities there. It only takes 5 minutes. There is also shuttle to Whitesand beach where we went everyday for our supper so really you have the best of both worlds as you can still socialise but you can also avoid the crowds and noise. We recommend to go during the low season, the weather was amazing (October) and hardly any people so we felt like we were really special guests having all the facilities to ourselves. ;-) Just great, can't see anyone who would not like this place.

Attentive staff, beautiful setting, extremely romantic

NONE

Ramayana is our favorite resort in Thailand. Period. We've stayed at lovely places in ChiangMai, Phuket and Kho Phi Phi but Ramayana on Kho Chang is a special place for us. We stayed there in May 2007, and when it was time to pick a honeymoon destination for Sep 2008 Ramayana on Kho Chang was the obvious choice. It's beautiful gardens, wonderful staff and lovely rooms are tops! Yes, there is no beach onsite - but there's a convenient shuttle to their private beach (this has moved location since 2007, it's now shared with their other resort The Dawa). The pool, spa and sauna are all great. And it's only a 10min ride away from the "crowds" of White Sand beach (if you can call Kho Chang 'crowded' compared to Phuket etc.)

Restaurant Tip : Check out the 15 Palms on White Sands beach and say hi to Danny, it's a very cheery place.

Private beach shared with the DEWA hotel. Beautiful garden.

Bathroom is a bit behind in quality comparing to the rest of the room.

We initially booked 5 nights via this website and everything went very smooth. On arrival the room was in perfect shape. The rooms are situated in small buildings in a nice tropical garden. Rent a motorbike to get around the island and move between the hotel and the private beach. Public transport is limited so the motorbike is the perfect way to get around. Swimming pool is very nice and service is at the level you would expect from such a place. Recommendable when not afraid to go by motorbike.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent a moped/motorbike.

Definitely a good stay...I would come back to this resort when I come back to koh chang.

Hotel Feature Tip : If you are willing to spend more money, I would recommend you to book at "DEWA". They have a very attractive swimming pool and rooms look very modern. Also there is a private beach next to the hotel resort!
