A great tranquil environment to relax

Andalay was a great find for the price. Though it is a 3 star I think it could easily be rated as a 4 star with not much effort. There are comments that it is a little pricey for what you get but I cannot agree. We looked around at other hotels in the same price range on the beach and could not find anything that came close that was not a lot more expensive. We stayed in both the Sunset Sea View and the Garden View.
The attention to detail in the design of the resort is the best we have seen in the price range across the islands. All rooms are spacious, modern and very clean. Most have sea view and there are some great, slightly bigger beach front units if you want to pay the extra. The pool is well positioned and large enough for the resort and the whole resort flows nicely onto a perfect beach that is uncrowded.
The restaurant is well priced as are the drinks. When exploring we found that most other resorts were more expensive. There are plenty of good independent restaurants on the beach that are easy to walk to and many have tables right on the sand. The onsite spa was also very well priced.
The staff are very helpful and friendly.
This hotel was my pick of all the places I have staying in Thailand. It was immaculately kept, had a beautiful beach and great little restaurants to explore. It was away from the hub and thus nice and quite. A perfect, well priced, relaxing end to our holiday.
FYI - Andalay runs excellent out of season specials. Watch Agoda and look out for the last minute specials too.

Beach in front and the street at the back.

The resort was beach front with the rooms just back behind the road. The staff were very friendly and willing to help. The restaurant food was very good but service was very, very slow even though it was low season. The breakfast items where served fruit first, then a delay before toast, then more delay followed by the eggs. So our solution was to order first before we came to the restaurant. The dinner was also slow but the food was good.
The hotel décor was nice but the design was not suitable for young children as the paths were not level and the pond areas around the sunset rooms is a potential hazard at the front door exit. There were problems with mosquitoes. Otherwise, we had a very nice stay and we had a good time.

We booked 2 connecting cottage rooms for family. The air conditioning was not working when we got to the room but on request the staff came to fix very promptly. The restaurant was good but very slow. The staff were very friendly. We had a pleasant stay.

It's a beautifully designed hotel right on the beach with its own swimming pool, massage parlour, great restaurant right on the beach, amazing sunsets

The Andalay lives up to its name, it's a true boutique hotel with a limited number of beautifully designed rooms (including the bathrooms). The beachfront bungalows look over the pool and onto the beach. Sunsets can be enjoyed from your own little terrace set over a pool of water with lily pads. (only drawback are the mosquitoes attracted by the standing water and the do make their way into the bathroom, which also creates a bit of a smell, covered up by the staff with citronella. But if you can deal with a couple of mozzies here and there the place is perfect. The staff are extremely friendly, internet is fast. Food is great. I couldn't recommend this place enough.
