Location, room view (pool view) beach, english was very poor We left the hotel with a sour note. They very adamant about charging us for a beer that we had never drank. We had removed it from the fridge, however, we did so to make room for drinks that we had bought. The morning of check out, they charged us, and on principle, had we not of been in a rush to leave, I would have protested further, however they refused to check for themselves..and in this instance, a better understanding of english on their part would have helped the situation.
On a happier note, the location of the hotel is great for those seeking a quiet, out of the way hotel. They offered a free shuttle (there and back) to Saladan town, so being in a crowd was accessible when you wanted to be in a crowd.
Breakfast was nice, maybe a litle boring. The dinner at the restaurant was very overpriced for what it was. I had ordered a fish, and it was undercooked. They need a new chef. The spa is also overpriced.
Travel tip : If you want spa services, there's a quaint little spa in Saladan for a fraction of the cost of the hotel spa

The staff have still some english to pick up Crown Lanta Resort is a top class resort, nicely situated on a cliff with stunning views over the sea. Fresh and clean, well managed and confortable. The garden is beutiful. There is a nice view down to the private beach. The beach has a small sand strip. Snorkeling is possible. You reach the major beach in a 2 mins walk. The food in the restaurant is excellent. We had a wonderful six nights stay!

Huge, gorgeous room/balcony with all the mod cons. Big pool. Stunning views. Restaurant menu could do with more Thai and vegeterian options. Lanta Cliff only opened in Dec. 2008 and naturally everything is still shiny and new, but there are a few teething problems. For example: the phone in our room wasn't working, and the massive pond at the front of the hotel isn't finished yet.
The staff were lovely though and we were upgraded to one of the deluxe rooms overlooking the sea and the pool.
There weren't many guests around even though we were there during the high season but I'm sure things will pick up in the next year.
Breakfast was very nice, with good quality coffee and fresh salads and fruit.
The hotel is built on a cliff and to get around the property you may need to request the hotel buggy. Some of the paths are very, very steep.
There is another downside: the nearest beach (Klong Dao) is a 5 minute walk away.
The hotel offers free shuttle service to the pier and the beach.
Overall we had a wonderful time and would stay at Lanta Cliff again.
