Lanta Cliff Beach Resort and Spa, Koh Lanta (Krabi)

Lanta Cliff only opened in Dec. 2008 and naturally everything is still shiny and new, but there are a few teething problems. For example: the phone in our room wasn't working, and the massive pond at the front of the hotel isn't finished yet. The staff were lovely though and we were upgraded to one of the deluxe rooms overlooking the sea and the pool. There weren't many guests around even though we were there during the high season but I'm sure things will pick up in the next year. Breakfast was very nice, with good quality coffee and fresh salads and fruit. The hotel is built on a cliff and to get around the property you may need to request the hotel buggy. Some of the paths are very, very steep. There is another downside: the nearest beach (Klong Dao) is a 5 minute walk away. The hotel offers free shuttle service to the pier and the beach. Overall we had a wonderful time and would stay at Lanta Cliff again.

For us it was a surprising excellent experience. We had chosen first another hotel (4 stars) in Koh Lanta that seems more luxurious according to their website, but this hotel was fully booked, and we were proposed to stay at Lanta Cliff Beach Resort and Spa (3 stars) as an alternative. We did not expect something special and thought first to stay there just a few days to find something better once in Koh Lanta. But to our surprise we found a marvelous hotel of higher quality than a 3 stars. It was so enchanting that we spent there all our holidays. We strongly recommend this hotel that is one of the newest and the best hotels in the North West of Koh Lanta.
