Amazing Staff, beautiful rooms and layout, great pool ++
Rocky beach, bit far from other restaurants (10 min walk)
This was the best place we stayed. We were welcomed by the staff and owner (who always greeted us by name). They happily fulfilled every possible request (they even came in 30 mins early TWICE so that I could make international phone calls from reception... which they barely even charged me for). I said I liked the flowers in the restaurant, and the next day there were 2 beautiful arrangements in my room for me (also free). Those are just examples, there were many things we liked! The beach is rocky but is nice and secluded, making it an even more relaxing place to be. The restuarant menu wasn't huge (mabe because it is low season?) but the food was good and reasonably priced and there are lots of other restaurants around if you can handle the 10 min walk in the heat to the next beach (or if you can drive a scooter, they are cheap to rent). They have free kayaks too.
Restaurant Tip : If you head on the main road (away from the pier) you'll hit the 7-11. Turn right at the next street and there are loads of beachfront restaurants.

Nice landscaping with nature feel. Food was fine.
The beach was more rocky than expected. Swimming pool was nice but rather small. The spa and restaurant closes early maybe due to low season. Staffs does not understand English well therefore hard to communicate.
Overall Koh Lanta is very undeveloped but great for nature lovers. I reckon Moonlight Bay may be one of the nicer resorts compared to others for its price. Rooms are fairly in good condition but people with knee/leg problem might have trouble climbing up the steps as the rooms are mostly located on the hill.
Travel tip : Rent a bike to move around. Hiring a Van for private transport costs 200baht per trip.

Intimate and beautiful grounds. Fantastic service.
Not a great beach in front of the hotel - too rocky, but good beach is a walk away.
We stayed longer than we originally planned. After seeing other hotels and resorts on the island, I was always very happy when we were dropped back off at Moonlight bay. The resort has a small valley to themselves. There are beautiful trees and plants along the raised wooden walkways that line the resort. Be sure to get a massage from Cocoa and his wife. Breakfast was very good and the staff were all very helpful and kind.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Rent a motorbike to get around. the resort has some for rent and it is the best way to get around.

Nice, Quiet, Clean, Friendly staff
Perfect stay. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. They took care of us. The hotel is a bit far away from village, you will need your own vehicle (the hotel rent motorbikes for 350B a day) which you can find cheaper at the pier. The room was perfect, clean, nice and comfortable. Expect to be wake up by rooster early in the morning. The breakfast wasnt a buffet but was still ok for the value. The pool is a bit small but the ocean is linked to the hotel. Be carefull of the mosquitoes if you rent the room at the river side.In general the stay is enjoyable, we were happy and we will come back.

Hotel staff, hotel setting
No proper swimming beach at hotel - but they will take you to a nearby beach
We had high expectations after reading the reviews of Moonlight Bay. And we weren't disappointed! What a beautiful place!
From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome. We had been in Thailand for three weeks and the staff at Moonlight Bay were the best - no contest! They are so friendly and kind - it was the only place we felt deserved the "Land of Smiles" label.
The setting is so peaceful and relaxing. Great rooms and nice balconies. The restaurant had good food at reasonable prices and friendly staff.
This was our best experience in Thailand. Highly recommend!!

Location, peacefulness, pool, value for money. We arrived at the hotel after a long trip from Bangkok and it was a delight.
We were in A River View room which we had previously heard described as a "Swamp" view. This was a bit unfair as it was a subjective opinion. We were quite happy with it although within the next couple of years it could do with a redecoration.
We really could not find fault with the hotel. It was very relaxing and a perfect base for exploring the rest of the island. The view from the beach bar is fantastic at sunset and as a result it is popular with low key weddings but these did not interfere with the resident guests. It is also well worthwhile eating out in the local village ( turn right out of the hotel and walk about 3/4 mile) where the food is tastier and cheaper. Particularly recommended is The Fisherman run by Lek and Sam where you can eat and drink for about 500 baht each and the food was delicious. The hotel maily has Scandanavians staying - very few Brits which suited us! Occasionally there are power cuts so take a torch ( and remember where it is in your room!!)
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make sure you hire a motor bike (available from hotel at 300 - 350 baht/day) and visit the rest of the island. Our favorite beach was Klong Jaak at the south of the island. The bikes are quite safe but drive carefully and make sure you avoid the potholes!!!

Very romantic, great facilities, good food, fiendly and helpful staff
best with seeview bungalow, not family friendly beach
We stayed in a beach front bungalow, witch was realy very nice. The view was splendid, especially when sitting with a cold beer in the jacuzzi enjoying it! Staff is very friendly, and the food is very good. Be prepared to witness up to 5 weddings on the beach in a week. To get around the island, the reception can help you rent a car, this is highly recommended. Rooms are clean and the resort well kept. They hav a cute beach bar.
Hotel Feature Tip : Don't get a haircut in the spa...(and certainly not a shave!)

-really nice bungalows in a tropical forest, some with sea view.
-very friendly and helpful staff.
-nice little private beach.
-besides the fact that every now and then a party with music till 23.00 takes place, nothing to complain about.
The perfect spot to relax. We spent 3 lovely days there and enjoyed the fact that we've been the only persons on the small private beach! Most people use the shuttle service to the bigger sandy beach (which you can also reach by a ten minutes walk) or stay at the swimming pool. The restaurant was good. A little library, an internet room and a Spa are also belonging to the resort.

Lovely pool
Nice private beach
Friendly staff
This has to be one of the best places to stay in Koh lanta. It is located between beaches halfway down the island which makes the area extremely quiet. The resort is in a lovely setting surrounded by trees and is extremely peaceful. The staff are wonderful and extremely friendly. The rooms are comfortable and extremely clean. The only downside for some is that it is between beaches and may be quiet for some.
Hotel Feature Tip : Hire a scooter to explore!
