Thailand's Leading Resort (according to the prestigious 2007 World Travel Awards) and winner of Thailand Tourism Awards 2004 Best Southern Accomodation; this resort nestled in a tropical forest facing a pristine white sand beach is one of Koh Lanta’s finest. Pimalai (a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World) is set on 100 acres of lush greenery and directly on a stretch of unspoiled beach, the only sound you will hear is that of the rolling waves and the birds chirping. The luxurious guest rooms and villas are dotted along the gradually cascading hills, culminating in the Seven Seas Wine Bar and Restaurant and an infinity swimming pool at the top, giving guests a sweeping panoramic view of the sun setting over the bay and surrounding mountains. For those wanting to explore the island, a ten-minute walk from the hotel will take you to a local village with a handful of restaurants and bars. The Same Same But Different Restaurant, a ten-minute walk down the beach, is a hot spot with visitors here. Reservations at Pimalai Resort & Spa are simple via our secure online booking form.
Please be informed that the resort offers transfer service from Krabi International Airport for an additional charge. Travel time takes about 50minutes drive followed by 50 minutes resort cruising boat at Baht 1,900 net per person each way. (Children 2-12 year: 50% of the price)

Rest, relaxation & romance at a private beach
Beautiful, well-kept and plenty of things to do
8.3
We are a couple who are used to staying in business hotels (Hilton, Conrad etc.) and have previously been to Banyan Tree, Phuket and Pimalai definitely compares to these hotels. We stayed at a beautiful pool villa on the hills overlooking the ocean and had a lovely time just eating and drinking at resort grounds (food and drink quality was up to expectations), having massages at the Pimalai Spa (really good the second day around!), snorkeling around the various southern islands, swimming in our private pool etc.
I was planning this trip as a surprise birthday getaway for my boyfriend and I was really worried about the transportation (as you will need to go by car - ferry - car route to get to the resort which in total would take 2+ hours) but the resort executed it well and we arrived at the resort and back at the airport without any problems. However, it should be mentioned that the resort does group transfers and I was not expecting this as it was not highlighted to me when I arranged it. This means you may be travelling with a large (and noisy) group who may or may not keep you waiting. Further, there weren't enough seats for all of us on the last day on the ferry. May I suggest to Pimalai to allow for private transfers (as is done at Banyan Tree with choice of different luxury cars)?
The resort is not cheap though and our stay here came up to the same as when we stayed at the Banyan Tree, so be prepared to spend a fair bit if you are going to spend all your time (and meals) at the resort!
The Ban Kan Tiang Bay beach is pretty good - fine, powdery sands (no rocks on the Pimalai side) and the waters were fairly clear.
TIP: Ask the resort for a map of the resort grounds so you can decide on which villa you would like to stay in. There are beach front suites and there are villas (with and without pools) which are set on the higher grounds of the resort overlooking the hill slope and ocean - simply beautifu

Nice Hotel with a lovely, quiet beach
Private pool, lovely beach, and great breakfast
7.7
We spent two nights in a pool villa, which has a great view of the ocean with a large private pool. While the room itself is very spacious and comfortable, it wasn't very clean, especially on the day we arrived. We were greeted by dead bugs in the shower and animal droppings on the floor.
The seafood offered at their beach side restaurant was disappointing and I would opt for regular Thai food instead. Breakfast was excellent and served at the hotel's hillside restaurant which is beautiful with a spectacular view.
The beach is pristine and absolutely gorgeous - one of the cleanest and quietest beaches we've been to.
I certainly recommend arranging your own transportation to the resort, as the hotel charges 1,900 baht per head each way from Krabi airport for shared transfers.
