Simple but charming
Old fish merchants house on the water

A charming rustic stilt house with a lovely deck for sitting and enjoying sunrise and the tides. Great view of the pier and outlying islands. We did not eat there but food looked good. Owner was nice and helpful. Room had a adequate mosquito net , was clean with just bed and though it was a bit warm, fan and evening air made it possible to sleep..... bathroom was downstairs so a little inconvenient but there were well placed lights for nighttime journey! . Old town lanta is worth the visit for a different flavor of the island!. A nice overnight change from the beach resort scene. Price of guesthouse was very reasonable .

Quiet town, nice wooden building, nice terrace

Nice wooden room with a bed and mosquito net. Only fan so it was really warm at night. You can also hear clearly what the neighbors are discussing.
The staff is really helpful and you can get breakfast for a good price. Make sure you rent a motorbike to explore the island, you're far away from everything.
Nice place to stay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Rent a motorbike at the GH. Really cheap and a nice way to explore the island.

On the wrong side of the island

Reserved the room based on reviews. I should have checked where it was on the island. Was unable to cancel reservation, so was charged for stay even though I never checked in. Koh Lanta is an awesome island but you don't want to stay in Old Town/Oil Town. To far from nice beaches, activities and a ugly part of the island.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Stay on long beach, rent a scooter and see the national park
