It is in a lovely quiet location on the island and the rooms were really nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful.
We had a really nice time at the Mandalai Hotel. The hotel backs onto a beautiful quiet beach with breath-taking views. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, big and ours even had a jacuzzi.There's a lot of DVDs to borrow to watch in your room too. Great value for money!
Restaurant Tip : There's a lovely italian restaurant a little down the road from Mandalai (past the 7 Eleven). There's an italian chef there and his food was fantastic!

- perfect authentic setting in a fisher village far away from the touristic parts of the island
- private beach with a paradise like esmerald
green sea just in front of the hotel
- free pickup from the pier where the catamaran arrives
- the pool wasn't super clean when we arrived.
- except for the manager, most staff doesn't speak English very well
- Far away from the full moon party (the hotel offers to drop you off for free though)
Rarely before have I had the feeling of authentic Thailand in combination with a stay in a design hotel. The hotel is lying on the other side of the island, far away from the touristy stuff. Next to the hotel you have fishermen cleaning their fish & thai children playing in the beautiful sea. While from a distance you see fishermen coming and going, bringing fresh fish to the pier. Just beautifully authentic.
The hotel is beautiful, but not superb in design. Breakfast is good & included. The hotel isn't very big, neither is the pool. But more than enough. The hotel manager is very helpful and will do almost anything to make your stay there an unbelievable experience. There was a small problem with the airco in the room we booked. We got an instant upgrade to another, more expensive room. That + the special promotion we got because of being low season, made the hotel true value for money.
To conclude: we were supposed to stay for 3 nights and extended our stay with 3 more nights in paradise. Main reasons: the superb location. the feeling of being close to paradise. Great value for money (also because of the promotion+free upgrade).

Very beautiful design.
Fantastic view from the beachside rooms.
Free DVD-movies to borrow.
Very helpful and nice staff.
Location in the middle of a fishing-village.
Some parts of the hotel felt slightly worn out.
A modern and nicely designed hotel, even thought a bit worn-out in some parts even though it's quite new. But big rooms, high cealing and modern standard. The staff is very friendly and helpful, you really feel like home.
Beautiful views just off the beach on a small hill but the surrounding is fishingdocks.
We never dove, but surrounded but planty of diving-schools so I can imagine is good for diving.
Overall a very pleasant stay but I wouldn't stay to long as the village itself doesn't have much to offer.
