Santhiya Resort & Spa, Koh Phangan (Samui)

From the minute that we were welcomed at the airport Santhiya resort was a perfect experience. We stayed in a seaview pool villa which was amazing and very secluded. The staff went out of their way to be polite, helpful and happy and the ambience of the whole resort is that of seclusion. The spa was also a wonderful experience and there were daily deals on treatments. The only downside is the dirt road into Santhiya, this is very steep and treacherous and quite a scary ride the first time you do it. The best route in is definately by speed boat but this is quite expensive to do both ways. In conclusion we loved this resort!

well, notwithstanding all those great reviews at Tripadvisor - that also led me to choose Santhiya - we were not that happy. first, transfer: speed boat to resort leaves at 11:00; as my fiancee was to arrive from BKK at 08:50 and I was already staying on Samui, I had suggested to Samantha from Santhiya reservations, that they pick me up at 09:00 and then we go to airport. nope, they suggested to pick me up at 08:15 (for the 5 min drive to the airport) and then let me wait 1 hour there; ok; they bring us to boat station; like the day before, it was very windy and sea rough; so they said, no speedboat but public ferry at 12:30; great; I am sure they knew that already when picking me up at my hotel; so I had to wait more than 4 hours just to board a boat! they could have told us earlier, so my fiancee could have rested in my hotel room; considering that we picked up another couple at 11:30 on way to public ferry is prove ot that. anyway, then a long an very bumpy road ride to resort. hotel lobby looks great upon arriving; they should us to our room - we had booked a sea view pool villa; looks fantastic on Internet - wow, but where is the sea view (villa 311)? it turned out that most of those sea view villas only get a glimpse of the sea; the few ones that have an unobstructed sea view are the called Royal sea view pool villa for which the receptionist asked for another 9.000 Baht; double of what we paid already; I mean, those villas do not come cheap already. anyway, we asked for a change and the one they showed us was not much better (villa 517); on the second day we got then offered villa 313; as it was left below our villa, we watched them cleaning so that we could get it at 14:00; except that they didn't show; so we called again (which we had to do several times to even be able to change to this villa) and then finally we could move at 16:00; a bit annoying if you are promised to be able to move at 14:00; but this is general trend at this resort;

Our experience at Santhya Resort was exellent since the transfer service they offer from Samui port, through staff welcome and along our stay. the site is amazing , the views from the beach impress you for the begginning. We reserve a villa with private pool and was incredible.. the room.. the pool, everything was exellent and different. We had privacy every moment and get a unforgettable experience.
