hotel with a perfect location
location of this hotel is perfect

the location for this hotel is perfect for us and not to crowded and very nice to see the sunrise. the only thing we would like to comment is the check-out time which is on 11:00 am and for us is not make sense since the ferry was living from the island on 14:30, then where should we waitting if we are with small children and the hotel staff was not allowed to give us the extra time or late check out.

We stayed in Seaview comfort room which was about 50m from the water. The beds were super comfy, which was great because everywhere else in Thailand they were rock hard! This hotel is about 10 min walk from Ton Sai pier, up the quiet end of the beach (monkeys come out to show off). The hotel has someone at the pier to help u with ur baggage when u get off the ferry. Breakfast was really good, try the muesli and yoghurt. The only negative is the bathroom which is not fully closed in and the showe mr makes the rest of the room wet. Would definately stay here again!

the hotel locates besides the beach with the good sightseeing, near from the tongsai bay, but very quite around the hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
There are many coral reef under the beach because the hotel is nearby the small hill. So not suitable for swimming.

Nice hotel. Room was large and bed was comfortable and we had a great view of the beach and ocean. The main beach on Koh Phi Phi can get very crowded and noisy including into the night but Mama Beach Residence is about 15 minutes walk from the centre of town and away from the crowds and noise. The beach on Phi Phi can be very crowded with boats with only samll areas roped off for swimming - at Mama Beach you can walk out the front straight into the ocean. The breakfast was also good and they organised tours and ferry tickets for us with no fuss and a good price. My only criticism is the coffee at breakfast was pretty bad.
Restaurant Tip:
We found a good place for coffee in town at a bakery on a corner, but I'm sorry I can't remember its name.

small hotel, very far from the pier and down town

Mama beach hotel is the 2nd farthest hotels on its side of the island. It is about a 10 minute walk from the pier. The hotel staff are really good. They will meet you at the pier and carry your luggage to the hotel. They do go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The bathrooms are not fully enclosed, there are curtains to make sure your neighboors do not see you. Every night the maids come to your room and spray for mosquitos.
Restaurant Tip:
The hotel restraunt will actually cook food that you buy your self from the markets if you would like. You bring them your food and tell them how you want it cooked. There is a surcharge for this. I cannot say it was any cheaper than to buy the items off the menu, but it was an option an dmy wife really wanted to eat crab and prawns.

Great hotel, great island
On the quiet end of the quiet side of Phi Phi

The decision of Mama was random but so perfect for us.
Its at the quiet end of the southern beach which is the quiet side, the northern beach is much younger and at night is party central, something to go and see if only for the spectacle, get involved with the fire dancing at your peril, great stuff though.
We did plenty of walking from the hotel into the main shopping areas and all around, all flat and easy, lots of stops at restaurants, etc.
Mama has a nice little bar on the beach for an evening cocktail or two, dining on the deck on the beach was also a very pleasant and romantic experience.
Breakfast is not fancy but very adequate with choices of museli and fruit, cereal, and a few different versions of eggs, croisants, bread rolls, fruit juice, tea and coffee help yourself.
The rooms were small, spotless and very nicely appointed.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Be prepared to walk 8 - 10mins into the main shopping area but this is what suited us from a "quiet" perspective, its out of the way of the main pedestrian traffic.

Lovely, quiet, small hotel with great amenities

Mama Beach had the best facilities (from what was visible exteriorly) compared to any other hotel on Tonsai Bay. Phi Phi is an H-shaped island, and Mama Beach is located at the southeast corner of the horizontal line in the H. Our room was on the 3rd floor with an ocean view, and was clean and comfortable. The shower had a curtain from shoulder level and up, so that we could pull it back to see the gorgeous mountains. Breakfast was included in our deal and was good (Western-style food). Mama Beach was the only hotel in the area to have a private beach (with lounge chairs on top of a nice wooden platform) as well as a very cute oceanside bar with thatched roof and tasty tropical drinks (with very reasonable, not marked-up prices). They also have an oceanside massage hut (1 hour massage = 500THB which is a little bit expensive, but you can hear the ocean!). The hotel provided free luggage transport to and from the pier. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a place to stay that is not polluted by the noise of the crazy party scene on the northeastern side of Phi Phi. It was excellent!

Comfortable hotel with great service.
Quiet location away from the noisy beach bars

We had four people staying here for just one night. For an extra 1000 baht, they allowed us to add an extra bed to accommodate all of us. The hotel is located 15-20min away from the central and roudy beach bars, so at night you can still sleep in peace. They offered complementary breakfast but we had to catch the morning ferry so we didn't take advantage of it. It has its own private beach and there is a bar and restaurant operated by the same owner so you can request to charge bills to your room and pay when you checkout. I would recommend anyone to try their specialty drink "MAMA Paradise". Overall, the short stay is very pleasant.

Tres decus

Nous sommes un jeune couple, et nous avons fait plusieurs hotels en Thailande dans le nord et dans le sud mais nous avons ete tres decus par l hotel Mama Beach a tel point que nous n avons pas apprecie veritablement l ile de Koh Phi phi.
On peut dire que la chambre etait a peu pres propre mais pas du tout agreable. Les plafonds sont tres bas, ce qui donne une impression de petite chambre sans espace vital; de l humidite sur les murs, des serviettes dechirees et tres usees, manque de luminosite, des neons de couleurs differentes dans chaque chambre (vert, rouge, bleu) ce qui est tres desagreables car on ne peut meme pas lire. Le petit dejeuner est assez pauvre compare a ce que j ai pu voir. Bref Mama Beach doit renover son hotel et investir plus dans le service clientele.
Aussi nous avons trouve dans la salle de bain des betes ,vu que la salle de bains est ouverte. On a trouve un lezard la nuit dans notre chambre.
Enfin, la plage n est pas agreable car il y a des pierres dans l eau et des rochers. On a du aller de l autre cote de Koh Phi phi sur une vraie plage bleue et propre - sans bruit des bateaux.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Il est tres difficile de trouver un bon hotel a Koh Phi Phi et j avoue qu il n y a pas grand chose a faire donc je conseille de passer seulement 3 nuits car c est une ile tres petite.
Je conseille le Banyan Villa ou le Cabana d apres les personnes rencontrees.
