Phak Nam Bay
Phak Nam Bay occupies a quiet stretch of Phi Phi Don’s coastline. This area is especially remote, with plenty of natural beauty and rustic appeal. Accommodation in Phak Nam Bay consists mainly of beach bungalows with basic facilities that usually include a private bathroom and an outdoor terrace. There’s a premium attached to ocean views, but mid-range bungalows with jungle or garden views are also available.
There’s a single hotel in operation here, and all of the bungalows are maintained by the same company. Luxury suites front the white-sand beaches, have the most privacy and include extra activities like Thai massage or sea kayaking in the rate. Less expensive bungalows are situated inland but still close to the beach.
The type of tourist that gravitates to Phak Nam Bay is usually after a quiet escape. Simple water sports like snorkeling and kayaking are available, but this area doesn’t have the infrastructure of Ton Sai Bay or even Laem Tong Beach. In Phak Nam Bay, anything more than a book and a hammock seems unnecessarily complicated.
To reach the accommodation in Phak Nam Bay, take a long-tail boat from Ton Sai Bay (the usual port of entry for Koh Phi Phi). There is also a walking trail that cuts through the jungle from Ton Sai to Phak Nam Bay. Walkers with light luggage can hike from the main pier to this secluded bay in about an hour.
