Ao Prao Resort, Koh Samet

We had a very relaxing weekend at the Ao Prao resort. The whole bay is under single management so when you arrive at the Ban Phe pier the trip to the resort (in our case by private speedboat) was smoothly organised. Very personal and efficient service at all stages of the trip and through check-in, meaning you could just relax and enjoy the ride, without need to constantly check where your cases were. Our room was newly refurbished, contemporary but with many organic touches. Efficient transfer back to Ban Phe at the end. We quickly realised that, consistent with other visitors' experience, the beach is clearly susceptible to pollution by rubbish - there was a little bit of rubbish each day and there were also high numbers of harmless but sticky jelly-like sacs (NOT jellyfish) during our stay which put us off swimming. No problem, as easy access via green pickup taxi to other parts of the island, where the sand is crystalline and the water more clear - Hat Sai Kaew (very busy especially towards evening) - then an easy trip back for a refreshing dip in the lovely pool.

Firstly I don't think that you should use the length of a review as the criterion on which to judge the quality of a review. Regardless we only stayed at Ao Prao for 2 nights but we had a very plesent stay and would recommend it to others.

It was our 5th visit to AoPrao and it's living up to its standards. We have tried different bungalows, several dishes, gone snorkeling, diving, canoeing, our children have rented motorbikes, have enjoyed happy hour cocktails, etc, and all has been great, from the welcome in Ban Phe with the speed boat trip, up to the last shower in a room let at our disposal before leaving. We'll be back for the 6th time...!
