Very quiet location on the sunset side of the beach. Large grounds with pretty gardens between each bungalow. Luxury spa in the resort grounds. Private beach with sun loungers. Great Thai restaurant with even better cocktails. The best spot for the sunset on the island.
For the money I would expect better linens, towels, amenities etc. If you’re keen for a bit of a dance you will need to go over the other side of the island. The resort should offer free transfers over the island – or a “shuttle bus” facility. The food is pricey – but on the plus side – it is very good food!
I have stayed on Koh Samet more times that is sensible and I’ve stayed at all different levels of accommodation. The biggest difference between Le Vimarn and all the others is that this place is a real resort. Most of the little bungalows are just that! A bungalow and a small restaurant. Le Vimarn has it all – a spectacular infinity pool, lovely spa, great sun loungers on the beach and several restaurants to choose from. Obviously because you’re getting a LOT more here than at the other places, you’re going to pay for it! Le Vimarn is CONSIDERABLY more expensive than any other bungalow accommodation on Koh Samet. This hotel is also situated on the “other” side of the island, which can be annoying if you’re wanting to party until late or be around lots of people, as you’ll need to get a taxi at 200B each way. I think the best advice for this place is you need to evaluate what you want from your stay on Koh Samet. If you’re going with friends and want to party – then this is definitely not the place to stay. If you’re going with your partner and want something romantic – then you can’t do better! It is also great for families as it’s not as busy as the other side.
Restaurant Tip : You simply MUST have cocktails at Buzz restaurant as the sun is setting. The drinks are great and the view is stunning. Also try their set menus each night. They work out to be very reasonably priced and the food is superb.

beautiful garden
lovely and quiet beach (no speedboats etc)
nice designed and spacious rooms
inattentive staff
limited choice of restaurants at night
We stayed at the Le Vimarn right after the Songkran festival. The hotel was booked at around 30% max at this time, so we enjoyed a very quiet holiday there. The trip started at the Bang Phe pier on the mainland, where we were picked up with a private speedboat and transferred to the resort on Koh Samet. The rooms met our expectations and the whole resort was like a tropical garden. The pictures fully represent the good standard of the resort. We were satisfied all in all, the only negative thing to mention was the kind of slowness of the staff (eg the towel-service was unattended for hours) - but this can be just a minor point.
Hotel Feature Tip : Consider staying at the Ao Prao Resort (same company), it is a bit lower in price but almost as good (at least beachfront bungalows)

Beautiful scenery, quiet, variety of food nearby, not far from Sai Kaew.
Food services should stand out from others but do not, yet prices are still higher. Too many flies and ants, and little attempt to control insects around food.
Beautiful location, quiet, plenty of variety in food, not too far from Sai Kaew. Staff is friendly. They don't permit motorbikes near the hotel to avoid noise and pollution, but within walking distance. Food served at this hotel suffers from the open-air environment. There are always flies and gnats around the buffet, and we were even served bread with ants crawling in it, with no apology or reaction after pointing it out. This wasn't much surprise as most Thailand food services do not put cleanliness and sanitation high on their list, but we expected mroe from this resort. Food should not be stored in open-air. Also, the hotel does not make a big effort to provide residents with good deals on sight-seeing or boat tours. They simply direct you to the hawkers of the same Jimmy's junk you see on every beach. We expected more for the cost, in this regard. However, we found good deals by talking to several boaters.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : As with most Thai people, negotiate every detail of your tour and write it down, especially where you will visit and how long you will stay at each place. When speaking, use small words and short sentences like "How much? How long? Where next?" until you can determine their level of English.

- An exiting thai restaurant ''Buzz'', with very
attentive staff, a nice presentation of very
good quality food and a outstanding setting
with a cool outdoor bar
- Very nice set resort with well kept, perfectly
blending in gardens and a beautiful (but not
very wide/long) beach
- Quiet and remote location with only three
resorts on Ao Prao Beach
- Direct shuttle boat from Bang Phe, without
the hassle of connecting on the island, a very
nice entry into a holiday - you arrive directly
on the beach of the hotel
- The restaurants are slightly more expensive then
average/usual in Thailand
- For holiday goers, who seek a big choice of
restaurants and bars, the hotel is too remote
- The staff was generally not very attentive and
had some attitude problems towards us and other
guests, when having complaints
- The breakfast buffet couldn't cope with the
full occupancy of the hotel, it was simply too
small
- The daily cleaning of rooms was not to
satisfaction
We liked the hotel, we liked our Spa Suite.
We stayed for a week over New Year 2008/09 and liked the easy accessability from Bangkok. It only took 2 hours by car from Bkk airport to arrive in Ban Phe, from where we were directly transfered by free speed boat to the resort.
We wouldn't have expected such a cozy, nicely set hotel, with such a nice quiet beach and cristal clear water quality that close to Bangkok, so we were pleasantly surprised.
On the downside, the New Year week is obviously the most expensive holiday week in Thailand during the year and the hotel was definitely not worth what we paid for. The staff was generally unattentive, the breakfast buffett completely overcrowded with guests and to small to cope with the amount of people. These wouldn't have been issues, if you would have stayed for the same amount in any of the bigger world wide known hotel brands for the same amount of money.
Worst was, that we incurred attitute problems with the staff, when complaining about a toilet being out of order, a broken shower, the lock not working and a hotel key being misplaced by the reception staff.
We were compensated with a very nice dinner at their recommendable italian restaurant in the end.
To summarize, we recommend the hotel and had probably only a bit of bad luck, which can happen.
We would come again, but only during some other season, when the rooms would be less expensive and consequentially worth all the money, during New Year week, we found the hotel not being worth it's money.
Hotel Feature Tip : Definitely try ''BUZZ'', their thai restaurant/chic bar...a sundowner followed by dinner, is probably as good as it gets in Thailand.

My husband and I have been to many nice places either in or out of Thailand. We love Le Vimarn a lot; the location is great, nice beach, peaceful, we felt at ease over there. All staff were phenomenal, best service. Nowhere else is perfect but I would say Le Vimarn is next to perfect. Our room (Spa Villa) was really beautiful, nice settings, clean, nice bathtub, very tasteful decoration. All restaurants are nice, but I love Thai restaurant Buzz, the food was great over there especially dessert "Mango with sticky rice". It's nice for drinking at night time with a little soft and easy music. There are much more to say, but I am sure you got a lot of compliments from others about this resort already. For us nowhere else beats this place so far.
As I said, it's just wonderful. I find this place very very special and very unique. The beach is just so nice, very clean, best service. We would convey these messages to our friends about this hotel, well actually we have done that. What more can I say..it's just stunning beautiful.

The interior and exterior of the cottage was well represented the image of south Asian resort. I think that was great!
TV connection was not too good. And I wish the internet was free because this hotel is not cheap place to stay
This hotel was very quiet and excluded beach. I also went to see other beaches as well, but not as clean as this one. I suggest if you like clean and quiet vacation with your love one or with your family, I suggest staying here. And the spa was very nice. All staff is very friendly. And I liked it so much that I did three times. I hope to come back again in near future.

Privacy in the Villas.
Quiet beach.
Not crowded.
The breakfast buffet was not very extensive.
Very expensive room rates.
We very much enjoyed our Villa with the jacuzzi on the terrace. The Villa was spacious and we had absolute privacy on our terrace in combination with a lovely view of the beach and ocean. Gorgeous sunsets! No vendors on the quiet lovely beach, and we felt completely safe to leave our stuff by the beach or by the pool when going for walks along the beach. Very expensive, but a paradise!
Restaurant Tip : A lovely, charming restaurant on the other side of the island, smack on the beach with red cloths; you can't miss it! Have the Tom yum soup... I did - several times!

Beautiful beach, luxury accomodation and surroundings.
Very expensive, rather limited breakfast buffet.
We stayed in a Spa Villa and very much enjoyed our stay. The Villa had a private jacuzzi on the veranda, enabling us to take baths and showering outside, meanwhile enjoying the lovely beach and ocean view. Very peaceful and quiet, sometimes you felt you had the resort all for yourself. Nice pool area in the garden, close to the beach. The surroundings beautifully lit up at night.
Nightlife Tip : Rent a motorbike and drive to the other side of the island to enjoy more relaxed (and cheaper...) dinner options.

Mosquitos at the restaurant
Nice facility. Beautiful beach and sunset. Good service and hospitality, too. When I was suffering with mosqiutos at the restaurant, the restaurant manager kindly let me use the spray. A lady at front was very kind also.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Beautiful sunset!

Simply a very average 'resort' that is over priced and does not support nor justify its price.
Shame as the beach and set up I really liked. Maybe it is different during peak season - but for the rates off season it should be all year round excellent service.
Restaurant Tip : Get dropped off at White Sands and walk along the front as there are many reasonable and good food places offering excellent value - much better than the hotel.

We didn`t find any weakness for the hotel, but outside it the island is not clean. We don`t understand why we had to pay fee for entrance in the national park of Koh Samet (200 baht/ person) but it is not neat and clean at all.
