At first, we're surprised that we actually need to catch the shuttle boat to the hotel. But once arrived at the Deluxe Room, all the amazed became so overwhelming. The room was the best with balcony plus great and perfect views for our honeymoon. All the decoration to celebrate us as a "couple", made us so impressed. Not to mention the service, all the staff there were a great help to us. Loved it and definitely going back.

Great services, clean and full facilities, delicious meals, perfect settings, beautiful and charming atmosphere.

Times for shuttle speed boats.

  • Hotel Feature Tip : The pontoon or bridge from boats to hotel is sort of an adventure. At first thought it's so scary but then felt so secured from the guards walking along with us. After 4 days staying there, then we got use to the way the pontoon works and liked it.

Staying at the Centara was a unique, unforgettable experience. The resort, located in between a cliff and the beach is not accessible by road but offers a stunning setting with peace and tranquility. The room we stayed in was easily one of the best we stayed in Thailand, very clean, comfortable and beautiful layout. There were so many switches for various lights and fans which took a while to work out and the spa Jacuzzi on our veranda overlooking the ocean was incredible!! I will recommend this place for couples in particular.

- Superb layout - ocean view spa deluxe was simply incredible and well worth the money - beautiful rooms - flat screen TV - room lighting equalizer - terrific room service menu - chique bars - quiet and secluded - great food -stunning cliff side and ocean views

- many stairs - difficult access - not the cheapest

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : - long tail boats are one way to get to town and back but if you don’t mind walking a bit I recommend taking the mountain side paths to Ao Nang which is a 10 minute walk walking on wooden stairways that are lit at night. Be sure to carry some mosquito repellent around sunset though as you may get a couple of bites at night.

During the rain there were not enough umbrellas. We were wet and cold.

we would return to this hotel since it is quiet and secluded yet close enough to Ao Nang. More family friendly than Patong for sure.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : be prepared to get your feet wet when taking the water taxi from hotel to Ao Nang.

Before going to Krabi I read a lot of reviews (including TripAdvisor) and was amazed at the number of negative reviews. Main complaints were: shaky pier, hazardous walkway, expensive food, lack of service, unfriendly non-English speaking staff, slow drainage in the bath, to name a few. After being there I would say that we have been in a completely different place with good service, excellent food, clean rooms, etc. There some limitations which result from hotel's locations, for example the walkway - but it is like climbing up and down the stairs - no difficulty at all (I have not read a single review with complaint on central stairs of the resort - going from lobby to rooms in the upper raw - and that stairs are steeper than the walkway.) The main problem of the hotel is that some arriving guests do not quite understand where they are going and specifics of the hotel's isolated location - insufficient information both on website and on spot like it is done say in Ravadeeya for example. The hotel's prices are 2-3 times higher than in Ao Nang, but you definitely get the quality of services and food for that money. Quality of service is much higher than in most European, Mediterranean 5 star resorts, not to mention the UK and can be compared to other 5 star resorts in Thailand. The hotel in my opinion definitely lacks a proper lobby bar.

  • Travel tip : Definitely worth going to Ko Poda and Hong Island trips. Worth visiting is Railay and especially the beach near Ravadeeya on weekend to feel the difference - the beach there is overcrowded compared to the tranquility of Centara beach.

All guests should know that this resort requires a river taxi or the complimentary hotel boat to access Aonang beach, where most of the dining and shopping are. The complimentary hotel boat service runs only once every 2 hrs and in some cases 4 hrs apart. If you wish to take a river taxi at your own expense, it'll set you back THB400 each trip... not cheap for a 5-10 minute boat ride. Also, the boat services only anchors as close as it can get to shore, and once at 6pm when the tide was so low, the boat had to stop some 50m away and we were left wading in water close to thigh high...
