Stayed here for 2 nights during our Ao Nang visit. Had a pool view room. Room is good sized, and both beds and shower/bathroom is above average for Thailand standards. The best thing about this hotel is its location. Short distance to shopping, beach, boatpier, restaurants and so on!

Not far from the beach, although not the best beach in Thailand. The hotel and location are very popular with package tours in particular from Russia and Northern Europe.
The hotel is good, it's not top notch, but then it doesn't claim to be. For some reason when you leave you room and take the key out it knocks all the power, including sockets which can make charging a phone etc hard unless your in the room.
I'd not stay there again, but is more down to beach than the hotel. Food, drinks, a bit on the expensive side. More than on the whole in Bangkok.

an ordinary 3 stars hotel

We stayed at La Playa Hotel for 12 nights. Location of the hotel is fine not too far away from two beaches and main road on a quiet street.
The hotel is old and shabby, facilities are limited. The gum is pure joke - a small room 2.5*3.0m with a couple out of date machines and few dumb-bells.
The room and bathroom are both a good size but they demand renovation.
Breakfast is OK if you're not fussy about food. actually it could be better.
Staff are friendly but most of them can't speak English at all, even in reception just a few people have basic English, there is too much broken communication.
One thing is good, there are 3 swimming pools with clear water.
The hotel should be rated as 3 stars max.
Restaurant Tip:
There are a few real good quality restaurants beside Ao Nang beache on Seafood Street. One of them is Long Boat Restaurant - huge selection of seafood (not only), good service and resonable price.

Location very to near to ao nang town, only 4-5 mins walks.
Restaurant Tip:
Have to try Wang Sai Restaurant. Very nice seafood and very cheap. only 3 mins walk from the hotel.

The location of the hotel is good and the price is reasonable. But the room is a little dirty and there is no toothbrush in the room. The towel is not enough. Actually their service is not bad but they forgot to clear up my room in the first day.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The location is good and very near to the center.

I stayed here 3nights. The hotel grounds were very nicely maintained. The rooms are large, have been cleaned, it was comfortable. The swimming pool was clean water. Buffet breakfast is also fresh vegetables, was delicious.
Restaurant Tip:
There are a lot of food stalls in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.

I stayed in the hotel room with direct access to the pool for 3 nights. It was lovely! The bed is comfortable, the shower room is spacious. And only a 2 mins walk you can find many shops / stalls at the street. Just what I dislike is the limited access to wifi and the breakfast should varies more, the breakfast are the same for 3 days, but the omellete was good. Overall, great hotel!
