Beautiful beaches and nice rooms

Railay Bay Resort & Spa is a nice hotel - if you are looking for luxury you need to go to the neighboughing Rayavadee. We took one of the nicer bungalows - I loved the outdoor shower - it was very pretty and big. I did find it expensive though and was expecting a slightly higher standard for the price, but we were there in August during the high season. It should also be noted that you can only reach Railay by boat - so plan on shorts and flip flops once your are off the plane to avoid ruining nicer clothes.

location on the railay beach east is splendid, easy access to the beach, wonderful view from pool area and restaurant

the logistics of arriving and departing from the resort (car + long boat) are very well coordinated, check-in and check-out process hassle free.
living units are nicely scattered among the greenery which creates a peaceful and quiet environment.
rooms are spacious, furnishing simple and in-style with tropical surroundings. the only disadvantage in my case was an exceptionally noisy airconditioner that was either too old or badly required maintenance.
hotel staff is very friendly and helpful though except for reception, they do not speak very good english.

Nice hotel with accessible cool beaches

the privacy cottage was a nice size for a small family, with enough outdoor area for my toddler to run around. the outdoor area also had a small fish pond that kept my boy fascinated. only quibble i have is that the toilet could be better. it was a little run down and had a foul sewer smell at times.
the hotel had nice sized pools and was right next to the beach. my boy was playing in the sand while we kept an eye on him during breakfast. my boy loved it there!

loved every moment of our stay. rooms (privacy cottage) were large, beds big and comfortable and with an interconnecting room plenty of space for our family of 5. the resort spans from east to west. the west is the better side - restaurant, pool and reception is there. staff are friendly and speak english. towels provided by the pool. mini marts are everywhere to by alcohol, basic foods etc. we will definately come again. dvd supplied in rooms. 5 minute walk from our room to the restaurant and pool. the location is just idylic. the only thing we didn't like where the waiters at night in the resort restaurant and the cats that are everywhere.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
go to phra nang beach - walk towards east side, turn right and follow signs. takes 15 mins but by far the best beach. go the east side for food, drinks, massages and booking trips. it's much cheaper than the resort.

We spend two night there and it was perfect. The hotel has a great location 5 min for a really relaxing and beautiful beach and from restaurants and bars. The staff is really nice and the breakfast generous and tasty.
It's a good place to relax and have fun!

This our third time here. Lovely tropical location with the hotel stretching from the ocean to the inlet and mangrove area which happens to be quite active. Thought we would go back to see what it was like now. Terribly busy as is everywhere even at this time of year which is supposed to be quiet. The hotel is very nice but areas need work. The beds are ridiculously hard and need a foam overlay so you at least don't have to put up with the uncomfortable gap where mattress are joined. You may think you can move from one to another but the bed is made up as one. The rain shower head was so calcified it was just about impossible to have a decent shower and the shower curtain was in need of a good clean. I am afraid they still have not seen fit to put comfortable reading chairs either inside or outside the rooms. I guess we chose the cheaper end of their rooms but they to me are actually the best located, they are large and modern with a bungalow feel with lots of light. All we really want is clean comfort especialy on an island getaway. We don't need all the airy fairy extras of hotels. I am afraid these rooms are lacking some of that and I say still.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Ensure you wear casual shorts and sand waterwalking footwear as access to the island is usually lifting legs over the side of boats and walking in water both on and off.

we had a very pleasant stay. it seams like a very family friendly resort. there are also two well maintained pools. the room was very clean with a big bathroom (bath and shower with hot water) and was cleaned daily.
just remember there are no roads to railay so you need to take a longtailboat or a ferry, not sure about the ferry as there's no pier. you can take a ferry from railay but a longtailboat takes you to the ferry. so travelling with big suitcases and little kids can be tricky.
our package had a breakfast included, the breakfast was quite good and we looked forward to it everyday.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you like rockclimbing there are lots of opportunities here.

The hotel is very quiet and beautiful. there are many place that offer you to enjoy the travel. the west side and the south side beach are very good bothe in take photoes and sign seeing. your can enjoy the rock climbing in the south beach.
and you can climb up to the hill to see a good lagoon.
and the service of the hotel is need to improve.

great room, clean, spacious, 2 swimming pools and the warm sea. the views are something. west beach is fantastic and the cove. food ok, service is a bit hit and miss. the room is easy to break into, met a couple who had money stolen from their room. there is a room safe, but not bolted down!
