We get an upgrade from a Superior Room to a Privacy Cottage through Agoda. It was a very good value for money. Privacy Cottage is a self contained cottage with private outdoor jacuzzi and a nice huge bed. You have option of outdoor or indoor shower.
The cons are more for the Railay area and not specifically for this hotel. It is a little too busy for a secluded beach accessible only by water. The longtail boats charge 800 bath (about USD 24) for a 5 minutes ride to get back to Krabi when it only costs 500 baht coming in. And that was a quiet tourist season. In general, there is no standard tariffs and locals try to take advantage of the tourists.
A nice resort with a very nice private cottages. The resort stretches from West side to East side of Railay. You can enter from the East side although the reception is on the West side. When we got off the boat on the East side there was a buggy waiting to take us and our luggages to the reception desk on the West side. Two swimming pools are available although the beautiful West Railay Beach is right on the resort's door step. We also get a free use of DVD movies, available from the reception. Breakfast is ok.

Excellent value for money. One of the best locations in Railay Beach. Wonderful pools & very nice rooms/cottages.
The beds are much harder than we have in Australia. If you look closely the building finishings are not fantastic but they seem to renovate as things age so not an issue.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Railay Beach Resort & Spa. It's in a prime location with lovely rooms, restaurant offers competetive prices and a great menu. All the facilities available you need, including tour bookings, high speed internet, convenience store and 2 of the best pools on Railay Beach. The price available through Agoda was so competetive I've recommend others use Agoda for future bookings.
Shopping Tip : Inexpensive laundry place just north of the resort - next to the convenience store on the path going to the East side of Railay Beach.

Privacy Cottage, Staff is friendly and helpful, Scenery is amazing, Decent restaurant, Clean Room, Free DVD rentals, very relaxed feel (opposing the rather dark and eerie Rayavadee next door), Surprisingly few mosquitoes (they are all on the East Side.
Small ants in the shower (didn't really bother us though)
Our stay here has been fantastic. We were fortunate enough to visit off-season so we basically had the place to ourselves. If you're looking to relax visit off-season, although I imagine it is never going to be as crowded as Phuket or Phi Phi. A little less known, but definitely worth the try. The surroundings are gorgeous and the fact that you can only get there by boat gives the place an island-like feel away from bustling society. We will visit again, although we might book a night at the Rayavadee just for fun.
Restaurant Tip : Try the curries at the Flame Tree just a short walk from the Resort restaurant.
Grab a beer on the oil lamp lit mats on the beach near Flame Tree.
Don't expect too much of the food at the neighboring Rayavadee Resort.
Also, make sure you book on the West side. East is nice to take a walk but that's about it.

First class location, excellent rooms and staff were very attentive.
No twin rooms in the hotel, so if two friends are travelling you will need a room for three people if you require separate beds.
Amazing hotel, situated in a perfect location. Rooms are of a very high standard, staff are very helpful and attentive. Excellent restaurant overlooking the beach and bay.

breakfast, bed, beach and service. Very clean.
travel desk could have been more helpful.
Railey Beach resort and spa had two wonderful pools, and a great location right on the west side of the beach. The service and food were wonderful and accommodating. They even provide entertainment, our waiter did a fire show and then also served our dinner! Loved our room the privacy suites, the Jacuzzi was a little funny, didn't work completely and a little dirty. Room was very clean. Location is great because you can easily walk to the east beach of a variety of shops and other eateries. Beware of jelly fish!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Good rock climbing

Very nice private cottages. Clean, modern thai design with the most comfortable bed we had in Thailand. Great, friendly staff. Great food also. And the pools are really nice.
It is very secluded (this could be a good thing too I suppose). Sewage smelling bathroom, but the staff gladly moved us to another room.
Railay Bay Resort & Spa is a great hotel with a beautiful beach! Great staff and the food is good too! The rooms are clean and modern with a great AC. The privacy cottage is cool and really is very private and beauiful.
Make sure to check out the other beach on the south side of the ithsmus!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make sure to take a tour of the Phi Phi islands. Check out the beach on the south side called Phanong beach and go rock climbing..... it is well known for rock climbing

Very friendly staff, right on the beach, access to both West & East Railay, wonderful rooms, great value (in the low season)
The western food wasn't all that great (steak, no bacon for breakfast), but hey, where in Thailand is it, and it's not the reason why you go there!
Railay Bay Resort is the best resort to stay whilst in Railay. Due to that, it can also be the most expensive, however we found a good deal in the low season.
The pool at the front overlooks Railay West, with its pristine white sand & beautiful blue water. The rear pool is more secluded & peaceful.
We stayed in a "Privacy Suite" which was wonderful - your own courtyard, outside spa & shower, as well as a large room, king size bed & ensuite. The entrance is a small walkway over a coy pond.
The resort is ideally located, with access to both Railay West & East & is only a short walk from Phra Nang Cave beach.
The local dishes at the restaurant are wonderful, however a decent wine will set you back (quite normal in most of Thailand).
We enjoyed our visit so much that we have arranged for our wedding to be held there & arranged by the very friendly & helpful staff.
Hotel Feature Tip : You can get cheaper trips (day & ferry) & groceries further along Railay East;
The spa massage is expensive, but much better than the ones on the beach!
At the time we stayed (low season), the rooms were cheaper through Agoda than from the hotel direct.

Excellent rooms, great service.
At the off season rate this hotel is an excellent value, not sure about the regular season rate. The Staff is very friendly and accomidating. I was upgraded to a bungaloo for free. The bungaloos are very private with an excellent design and layout. There is free wifi, but only in the lobby area.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you like seeing monkeys there is a tribe that comes down to Phar Nang Beach every few hours during the day to be feed.

Excellent service and staff - we were greeted with a cold towel and cool drink. Lovely pool overlooking West Railay beach. Such a lovely quiet resort but close to everything you need to do and see in Railay Bay.
Don't think i can think of one...I guess if you are after a cheap place to stay this isn't it...but it's well worth it
We stayed in one of the Privacy cottages which was absolute luxury. It definately was not the cheapest accom available but if you want privacy and to spoil yourself it's well worth it. Huge bedroom/living room complete with TV, DVD and stereo, huge shower and bathroom and your own private spa (not heated though). Nothing bad to say about it at all - i would definitely stay here again. The resort basically stretches from the West to East side of Railay Bay, don't stay on the East side - it's mainly mangroves and not very nice - although there are some great (cheap) bars and food establishments on the East side.
West side just beautiful, more expensive though. Worth finding the track over the Ton Sai (i think) it's a smaller bay and beach, much cheaper and lots of rock climbing...no ATM's at Ton Sai though.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Heaps of rock climbing spots.
Really nice, quiet beaches (not too many long tail boats to spoil the beach or noise levels)

Location, pool(s), breakfast
Basic rooms need renovations ++ (planned for May, 2009), reception staff unhelpful when trying to book direct (thus booked through Agoda and pain-free)
This is our second stay at Railay Bay Spa and Resort and the pros and cons have not changed. It has the best location of its beachfront pool of all Railay Beach accommodations, and has an excellent buffet breakfast. Basic rooms need work, maintenance staff are excellent yet front desk staff could be more helpful.

Location: very nice location, very quiet place, excellent beach, and wonderful sunset
Rooms: Beautiful rooms (Privacy cottage)
Entertainment: Dinner at hotel's restaurant include a different show every night (we didn't know they have it).
Guest Service.
Restaurant: Very good food, they have Thai and Continental menu.
Spa Sea View: Very good massages!!
Staff: Everybody is helpful, polite and nice! Just they need more English training as happens in all Thailand. If you talk easy and simple English it will work perfectly.
We stay from April 13 - 20, 2009
We spent 1 week in this hotel resort and enjoyed a lot! The Privacy Cottage are very cozy and comfortable, it's like your own village in the paradise! we highly recommended! Suggestion: 1)request the hotel pick-up service so they'll take care of everything for you from the airport until your room. You won't need to worry about anything. 2) Prefer a Privacy cottage room (little village) or a West side room, East area is not nice as West area.
Shopping Tip : Buying at the beach: you will need to bargain (reduce at least 50bahts for each item). You can take a very good foot massage or Foot scrub on the beach.

scenery, friendly staff, nice rooms.
the beach was rocky - wear sandals in the water!
Our stay at Railay Bay was wonderful. We stayed in a triple, which was very nice. The pool on the beach is a little crowded, but there is another pool in the middle of the resort that is not so crowded. Get a foot massage and/or foot scrub on the beach! But if you go in the water, wear your flip-flops - there are lots of rocks on the bottom. But overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely stay there again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : wear shoes in the water so you don't hurt your feet on the rocks. and definitely do the afternoon snorkeling boat ride that includes dinner on a sandbar at sunset and a night swim to see the phosphorescence.
