Mini-Bar Scam
My fiancee and I checked in to the Railay Bay Resort after a couple nights in Ao Nang. Check in was pretty smooth (besides carrying our bags in the sand), though they were stingy about giving us a late check out the next day. The room was basic and a little run down, but overall pretty nice. The pool was smaller than it looked in pictures and crowded. Previous reviews are correct about the long distances and unpleasant walk between the lobby and the rooms. We really didn't like the vibes in Railay, but Phra Nang beach is unbelievable. Our real problem with the resort came at check out. When we wanted to check out, we called for a golf cart. They came, picked us up and we saw housekeeping immediately enter our room as we were leaving. When we got to the front desk the check out receptionist phoned the housekeeping to make sure the room had been inspected and was told we had a coke from the mini bar (we are 100% positive we did not). We told her we did not, assuming it was a simple mistake, and the receptionist persisted that we had to pay for it. We told her we absolutely would pay if we had one (it was 30 baht, which is like 50 cents), but we didn't and we became frustrated on the principle of the thing. She ended up taking us back to the room (not 10 minutes after we left it) where we found a COLD, OPEN 3/4 FULL coke can on the counter above the mini bar. So bizarre. She kept rudely insisting that it was us and we had to pay. At this point we were laughing at the absurdity of the situation. Finally the manager told us we didn't have to pay, but was not apologetic at all for accusing us, or the rudeness of the staff. I'm not sure if this is a scam they run hoping that people don't remember, or if the housekeeper wanted to screw us, or wanted a coke. One of the weirdest things I have ever had happen at a hotel and left a bad taste in my mouth. Come for a day to Railay and see Phra Nang beach but skip the rest, especially Railay Bay.

good in overall
It was rainy season hence was wet throughout our Stay. I didn't like the idea of having too many cats around. They were everywhere around the resort, restaurant and beaches

Excellent staff and facilities
Whilst the facilities(room, pools, restaurant etc) are great they would be nothing if the staff were poor. No worries......constantly smiling and helpful staff will make your stay memorable. Especially noteworthy is the transfer from/to the airport....a bit more expensive than DIY but well worth it as, again the staff take great care of you.

2 bedroom villa are nice
we are lucky to stay at 2 bedroom Vila and the pool is nice. staff left fruit on the table outside so we had monkey stop by the pool and had party two days in the row....... the staff should have be aware of that.

good stay
room was big but aircon is dripping and making all the loud noises. problem with mosquitos and bed bugs, but looks like it's common in railay beach, not a single person without insect bites, just an observation. guest have 15% discount on the menu for lunch and dinner since breakfast was free. railay beach is very quiet, we were there during off peak season, so it's nice. but nothing much to do there. you have to book some tours unless you want staycation. people seems friendly and genuine.

Great Staff!
The staff there were very nice and accomodating and friendly! The location itself is eye candy on its own. We will come back during the non-monsoon season! Loved our stay here!

This place is amazing, but remember, you need to take a boat trip to get here.

Stayed in a private cottage
Stay for 3 nights with 3 year old Best location on Railay Beach with 2 pools The place is very dated and in need of repair. The private cottage has sliding glass doors that have large gaps around the frame. I asked for another room since I didn't want to have critters and mosquitos in the room but were told they were all the same. They offered to spray for mosquitos but I said no since I have a small child. They said they would bring electronic plug in to prevent mosquitos in the room but never brought them. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the breakfast
