quiet location, great beach, amazing facilities with lots to do, good food, excellent staff, comfortable rooms
This hotel can be pricey. The spa was excellent but US prices and in some cases, some massages were more expensive than some 5 star hotels in Bangkok. Friends said that the Nakamanda (next door) had a nice spa and it was less expensive than the Sheraton.
Huge resort with lots of restaurants to pick from. The Mediterranean/Italian restaurant had great pasta; poolside dining was also very good; and the Indian/Thai restaurant was excellent -- very lovely to sit there in the evening for dinner/drinks. Breakfast was very good with a huge variety of foods. Great fitness facility, spa, and beautiful grounds. The beach is also beautiful though the sea was a little rough due to rainy season.
The room was a good size with all the amenities and a balcony that overlooks the property and the ocean. The room was very clean and comfortable - a Sheraton standard with nothing particularly "wow" about it.
The staff are all very professional and friendly. When we had to change a room, they responded quickly and were very helpful.
The price for the room was a little higher than other options of similar hotels, but with all the amenities I can see why people would pay more. This is also a great resort for families as there are many things for kids to do.
There are options for renting scooters, getting massage and food within walking distance of the hotel entrance.
Overall it was a great stay and I recommend coming here.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Massage at Ruen Orchid (across the street) was terrible for a full body massage. Might be better to have a foot massage there.
Scooters are ~300THB across the street for one day (24 hours).
It's worthwhile going to Ao Nang to take in the scene and check out other beaches.
The Nakamanda next door to the Sheraton is a beautiful boutique resort (part of the SLH group) with huge rooms (suites), super service, and a much cozier/romantic feel than the Sheraton. Prices there are more competitive also.

Service is superb, lots of facilities and good choice of restaurants.
A bit too big and the beach could be better. There should also be more staff serving drinks in other areas apart from the pool.
The Sheraton is a very good hotel with superb food and some nice touches such as the golf buggies to ferry you around. It doesn't WOW you though and needs some finishing touches to be able to truly class itself as 5 star, eg too many plastic glasses. The booking service for excursions is very good and having free internet is useful, but why limit it to 45 mins (very cheap).
Shopping Tip : Walk to the shops at the back of the hotel and buy some drinks to have in your room. Will save you a lot of money.

A few local restaurants outside the hotel.
Very quiet little town.
The beach was rather nice and clean.
Local restaurants on the beach.
Rather high prices for drinks and restaurants compared to what you can get just 2 minutes walk outside the hotel
The hotel is located on a quiet beach. There is a small town next to it. If you are looking for a place to relax and do nothing. This is the place. But if you want nightlife, you would not have any! The hotel is rather big and the room is a bit old-style. The staff was courteous. Great with free internet access even though it was rather slow...
Restaurant Tip : Try the Terrace Restaurant right across the road from the hotel.
