Very beautiful landscape making it seem you are in the middle of a forest. Wonderful service and stay.
Mosquitoes were a plenty but what can you expect in a lush atmosphere
I would stay here again, wonderful service, 5 mins from beach, clean room, happy hosts.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : just down the road is the beach where you can hire private boats and guides. Better and cheaper than using tours sold at hotel.

Beautiful setting, away from the main road, large spacious rooms, quiet.
Rooms are a little dated, spa is overpriced, power and lighting console in the rooms was all weird so it was difficult (and at times impossible) to turn on lights, TV etc.
We really enjoyed our time at Somkiet Buri. The setting is magnificent, with spectacular views of the cliffs from the jungle setting. The rooms are located along wooden walkways through the 'jungle', centred around a nice pool area. Also, it's set back from the main road which mean it's well sheltered from the noise of the streets. Only a quick walk to the beach and the centre of Ao Nang, and and there's plenty of shops and stalls right outside the entrance.
We got our room at a great rate due to the time of year we went. I'm not sure if it would ordinarily be worth the full rate or not. We felt like we got great value for money, as this is a real oasis amongst hustle and bustle of the busy Ao Nang area, but if you were paying full rates, the rooms are a little dated now and the electrical wiring was all over the place! Sometimes we couldn't get lights to turn on at all, or turning on the TV would turn on the bathroom light instead, and so on. It was weird! The setting probably makes up for it all, though, and the rooms are still large and perfectly serviceable, with all facilities including cable TV, mini bar, separate and spacious bathroom and a beautiful balcony to sit out on and soak up the setting with a drink or two. It's probably just if you want the very latest, you may get something a bit newer for the same money. Didn't bother us at all though.
With such an abundance of massage and spa places just a few metres out on the streets, I really don't know how some of these places justify their spa prices! You can get a luxury, quality treatment for at least a third of the price right outside the entrance, and if you go down to the beach area, the same treatments (though perhaps not as professional) may be a fifth or even a tenth of the price or less. Of course you expect to pay more inside a resort, but the prices at the spa are disproportionately huge and you'd have to be crazy to use it when you could go to, say, 'Let's Sea, Let's Relax'.
Restaurant Tip : Avoid the many restaurants and get some food from one of the many carts that set up each night right opposite the entrance, outside McDonalds, etc. The food is so much cheaper, and way more delicious. Had some of the best Phud Thai's and curries for only 35 Baht each! All cooked right in front of you so you can make sure it all looks ok.

1. Nice room and pool
2. The hotel serve halal food since the owner is a Muslim
3. Superb location - near to eateries, bazaar for shopping and minutes walk to the beach
4. Cool and pretty surroundings
5. Daily complimentary fruits
1. No kettle provided for superior room.. difficult for me who travel with a small kid when I need to boil water to prepare the milk.
2. The room not properly clean despite of having a room service
3. The hotel was in the middle of renovation when we arrived.. hence it's not so welcomed when the lobby is under renovation.
We booked a superior room and the room looks exactly like the photos appear in agoda.com. We are so please with the ambiance and friendly staff. Starbucks, McD and 7-11 are right across the street and it's easy to get cheap and delicious halal food from the stalls. Minutes walk to the shopping heaven and Ao Nang beach.
I would really recommend others to stay at Somkiet Buri Resort especially if u are Muslims. Make sure u include the breakfast when booking the room - the food is halal!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : survey around on ground tour (they have many tourist info outlet that offer trips to suits u/ur family's need).. bargain for discounts. My recommendation - trip to 4 islands by Koh Phi Phi Tour. Exciting and fun trip, from 9am-3pm (not too tiring when u hv kids around) tasty, halal lunch provided.
