We stayed in low season and had the restaurant to ourselves for dinner most nights. We'd stay at this place again if we return to Ao Nang. The bus from the airport was B150 p.p. A taxi for the same journey would have been B600 to B1000. If you have problems with stairs, get a room on ground floor. If you can't boil water, you can buy a 6L bottle of water across road at 7 Eleven for B40.

  • Restaurant Tip : You must try the banana in coconut milk! We tried it elsewhere, but the Buri made the best.

This is not a cheap hotel for the budget-minded but is well located and would appeal to the middle-of-range traveler.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Long tail boat to Koh Tup where the snorkling is great and the sand pit between the islands is magic.

I would reccomend this accommodation to everybody. We had a standard room which was spacious, as well as its bathroom. The terrace was wonderful with a view on the small jungle which is sourrounding the whole Somkiet Buri Resort area. If you are lucky you can see some animals. We have seen a huge lizzard, just near our bungalow. It is in a good position and 5 min walking from the beach. Somkiet Buri Resort is a very beautiful resort and we would come back here.

No alcoholic drinks were offered because the owners are Muslims. If you are afraid of animals and little insects, better look for another accommodation. Due to the location has many plants (look great) there are some geckos and nice other small animals.

  • Restaurant Tip : You can eat in the hotel restaurant. It's not too expensive. But I reccomand you to eat at one of the several street kichens. We had a good experience with one which has tables under bamboo decor. You can find it if you leave the hotel and look to the Starbucks turn right and follow the main road (opposite direction as the beach) a few meters.
