Great room and resort. Stay Here! This was one of the nicest rooms we stayed in on our East Asia trip. Even though it's not on the nice side of the beach it's only a 5 min walk to the west side plus you are a little closer to most of the restaraunts and pubs.

Good accomodation , very good breakfast, lovely pool
and very good service mini-bar not free, a bit far from the center the hotel is very lovely and charming. after the arrival the stuff welcomed us with a smile and a cold drink, and took care of the bags.
The room was big and has a bath tab and bath foam free of charge.

we took the tropical villa plus - very nice, luxurious, the staff is very friendly it's about 5 minutes wak from the beach we were there in September 09. it rained for a fe says but most of the time the weather was very good.
The rooms next to the pool smell a bit like sewege, the hotel is not too crowded and we liked this, the breafast is very good. it is recommended to find out if there is construction work there at the time you stay.
Travel tip : Railay beach is excellent for couples

This pretty resort has the most beautiful bathrooms. We opted for the outdoor shower and indoor bath. If the bath worked properly it would have been worth the extra money. The breakfast buffet was a good value and the pool was great. The bath did not work properly and the airconditioner was noisey. The eastside of the island of Rialey is less desirable than the west side. This resort is the first place you'll see when you get off the long boat which is convenient but can be loud if you're trying to relax at the pool or eat in the restaurant. The villas are beautiful and the grounds are well manicured and charming however there were a few technical problems like the AC unit was so loud that we asked to be moved which they did right away as the staff are most amazing and gracious. The top villas have very sexy bathrooms and with a grand bath it's very romantic but the bath hardly worked which was disappointing. The value was okay with a breakfast buffet but definetely not a 4 star place.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The only beautiful beach to lay out at is only accessible from the eastside and the Sunrise is the closest to the access path.

Good value for money - description of room types needs to be carefully read on booking however. Construction work taking place in the publc areas around the pool.Some damp smells in room on arrival plus some insects/beetles in room - not unsual in Thailand Good value accomodation located in the East Bay of Railay - Room was described as a "Chalet" but was part of 2 storey block, had frontage to pool area thus making it a good location within the hotel - some minor construction work taking place at time of visit. Note that when tide is out at this this location the bay sand margin changes to a shallow mud flat, but this only extends part of the way around the East bay.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Good location to use long tailed boats - hotel entrance is on beachfront where boats land.

A beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms, spacious bathroom with bath and fresh, a small balcony, high speed internet connection. The service of hotel is very good, people act quickly and effectively, the spa is a place of rest. The pool is great, jacuzi dedant and even a tobogan. The proximity of the famous walking street (3min walk) n in no way interfere with the silence of the hotel. I will gladly go back.

Pros.....the best place to stay! Good value for money. Restaurant closes at 10.00pm. The Sunrise Tropical Resort was well situated in Railay with only about a 5-15 min walk to the other beaches on the island. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Excellent pool which is maintained really well. The breakfast buffet had a good selection. Rooms were really big and kept well cleaned.
Nightlife Tip : Joy Bar is a really nice place to watch the sun go down.

The room was spectacular and had great value. The food was great. The location was great. They don't serve alcohol (but you can buy your own). The tour booking lady on-site was awful. Overall, the hotel was great. The villas were stunning and the value was amazing. When you take a long tail from Ao Nang, it drops you off right in front of the hotel. Beware, if you arrive during low-tide, you will have to walk through water with your luggage. They don't serve alcohol, but will allow you to purchase your own and drink it on-site. The tour booking lady was awful. The prices were more expensive than at the other tour agencies in town (5 min walk away) and she was not willing to negotiate on price. Essentially, she was a waste of time.
The nice beaches are a 5 min walk away, and there are great bars and nightlife on Railay east as well.
The breakfasts were ok, not great.

The food was not really good.
In the morning all the people from other resorts meet in front of the resort restaurant to take the boat, too crowded!! I arrived alone late at night by long-tail-boat and it was like an adventure as the tide was very low and i had to walk with my bag between the rocks for 10mn before reaching the beach, the long-tail boat driver was checking if every was ok, speaking in thai from his boat,but not helping me, so funny. The bad surprise was the food which was not delicious at all for me, too salty and no flavour. The good point was the tropical villa with nice facilities but too many mosquitos inside so that I ve been bitten 10 times before switching on the air-con. The beach is nice and beautiful but too many boats and ferrys depart from here to koh Phi Phi, so too crowded and noisy I think
Hotel Feature Tip : many mosquitos inside the room when I checked it at night, put some cream BEFORE entering if you arrive late!!

Great location. Friendly staff, large clean rooms, great buffet breakfast. Great room amenities, mini bar, lcd tv, room safe, umbrellas, coffee maker, outdoor shower, bathtub, canopy bed, reading nook, covered porch. Terrible tour desk that over charges, no alcohol served at the resort, but you can BYOB. Great location...walked right out of the water off the ferry from Ao Nang, into the hotel. Close to the hippie, chill-out rock climbing haven that runs along the east shore. Great nightlife on the east side of Railay.
Nightlife Tip : For after dinner entertainment, stick to the east side of Railay. Live music, thai fights, street venders and great food.

Friendly staff, spotless rooms, incredible breakfast buffet, quiet location, family friendly, low-key, quaint Thai-style villas, best value on Railay I've stayed at this resort three times, and I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to Railay. Though it is on the "ugly" beach where you can't swim, it is just a five minute walk to the West side for a swim. The staff here are always helpful and always have a smile. The rooms and villas are very spacious, clean, and stylishly decorated, and the breakfast buffet is delicious and includes lots of healthy options. The location on the East side of Railay means that prices are a bit lower, which makes a stay Sunrise Tropical Resort an amazing deal. This feels like a home away from home for me, and it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the ocean and the nearby rock climbing (just a 5 minute walk from the resort!). Stay here, and you won't regret it!

Frendly staff, and great service Would have liked better deals with internet services. The breakfests could have had better virarity of foods and the food was cold Since this was my second visit I was really impressed with how things had changed for the better. Although I was not very happy with the quality of the food at breakfest time, the food at other times was really good. The staff were very warm and frendly. They were promt at gave me and my girlfriend the best of services. All in all I would recomend this hotel to my friends and would rebook for another trip should I venture to this area again.

Lovely big room, pool is nice and clean, beach tools provided. Really liked it. only downpoint was that east railey is not very nice, but only a short walk to the nice beaches. the sunrise Tropical resort was really nice. It is on East Railey which is not as nice as the other places, but they are a very short walk away. The hotel itself was lovely, set in nice gardens, the room was spotless, with a huge comfortable bed, dressing room area and a really big bathroom. Really would recommend!!
Nightlife Tip : head over to West Railay and watch the sunset. The bars put out mats on the sand and you can have a cocktail while watching the sunset.

Centrally located between gorgeous Pranang Beach, West Railay Beach/Shops/Restaurants, and the younger/bar scene part of town. Easy access to ferry/longtail boats. Spacious private rooms, fresh breakfast, pleasant service. Mosquitos everywhere. Wear insect repellent, even in the room. No beach outside your door. Sunrise Tropical is centrally located between the gorgeous Pranang Beach, West Railay Beach/Shops/Restaurants, and the younger/bar scene part of town. There is super easy access to/from the ferry/longtail boats which arrive from other towns. If you arrive at low/mid tide, you will have to walk through water to get to land. Arrival at high tide will allow the longtail boat to bring you straight up to the hotel. The rooms are spacious and private (although we could hear our neighbor through the wall when they were watching TV and talking). The breakfast is complete with fresh omlettes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, breads, a thai noodle dish and some hot meats. The service was very pleasant. Be prepared for mosquitos EVERYWHERE! Wear insect repellent, even in the room. I think this is the case at every hotel in town. Ask for mosquito netting around your bed (not sure if every room is automatically equipped). There is no beach outside your door, however there are two great beaches within 5 minutes walking. You cannot get to Pranang Beach during high tide (unless you swim around the island... lol) and then you will find no sand when you arrive. Railay West is a so-so beach for laying out, although I live in Miami and may be slightly spoiled. My favorite beach time was late afternoon/early evening at Pranang where you may see adorable monkeys playing in the trees and an amazing sunset. Railay West is also nice at sunset because there's a restaurant that provides mats and drink service on the sand. You will see it, as it's the only restaurant not affiliated with a hotel. The food there is excellent as well. All in all, Sunrise Tropical was the perfect hotel for us. Rates on agoda were far less than any other booking site.
